renting a charter certificate

I think you replied to the wrong person b/c I'm in agreement that it can be done, but I thought about what the original poster is tryng to do when I bought my plane. Try to cut costs by putting it online with a Part 135 outfit.

Should this be viewed as "abnormal"?. I think not, many many airplanes are on charter certificates where as the same practice takes place. They simply pay a monthly fee to the certificate holder every month. This practice has been going on for years and will continue to go on, nothing "special" or out of the ordinary with regards to putting airplanes on another certificate.

We're putting our westwind on a charter certificate, leasing the certificate i guess you could say. total cost is somewheres around $2000 a month and 5%. We're maintaining operational control of the aircraft as well, our own crew(s) etc. We are doing all of the 135 indoc. training, TSA/FBI background checks etc... but we're pretty much gonna be left to our own to regulate ourselves within the confines of the P135 certificate.
