Today is a very windy day here so a good opportunity for some fresh air and maintenance checkups. As I lost a small (#4) screw on the aft underside plate, and a #7 screw at the firewall plate underneath, it's time again to check. And yep, several of the #4 screws were loose on the top cap strip just forward of the flaps, both sides. It was only time before some of them grew wings and departed.

Pick up a small tube of blue Permatex gasket sealer at an auto parts store. A small drop of this on the screw threads before installing will keep them in place longer.

Make sure it is the blue Permatex so the screws will remove easily when desired. Have a paper shop towel in your pocket to wipe off any excess gasket sealer left on the surface after installing the screw.
