From DL Travelnet:

Remaining E135 aircraft will leave the fleet in SeptemberJuly 29, 2008

We have agreed with Republic Airways Holdings, operator of Delta Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines, to remove the final 11 E135 aircraft from service effective Sept. 30. The 37-seat planes originally were to be removed at a rate of two per month between November and April of next year. The planes are flown on routes out of our Cincinnati hub.
The move supports our objective to reduce fuel inefficient flying sooner that originally scheduled. The E135 cuts are part of our announced 13% domestic capacity reduction for this year.

this is was announced by internal company memo several weeks ago. this is why we are furloughing starting sept 1st.

Is Shuttle America still replacing the Delta Connection E-170s on a one for one basis with the E-175?

I don't know if it is still one for one, but S5 is still getting the 15 175's (equal to the total number of 135's leaving DL). The 170's were supposed to go to United and Frontier operations, but now that the frontier contract is gone, who knows where those F9 planes may end up (probably in Europe).

They are adding some 170s to the DAL operation in spring and summer '09.

Are they adding some or just replacing older E170s with newer E175s?

Bye Bye--General Lee

My understanding (of the press release) was that aside from the 175s, they are adding 2 170s for the spring/summer '09.

Correct...The DAL 175's come on line this fall/next spring. 10 of the 170's being replaced move to UAL on the S5 certificate, the remaining 6 were destined for F9, but now with 2 staying at DAL next spring/summer, that makes 4 surplus 170s that will be unallocated.
