Wrong Again
Neither of them have 207's. ERA has only turbine twins, while Penair does have some Cherokee 6's and Navajos. Right now Penair hires into the right seat of their Caravans. They fly them two pilot after an accident in 2001. They used to hire into the right seat of the Metro, but now those pilots are coming from the Caravans.
Cherokee's Navajos Caravans Metros and Saabs. What you start in depends on experience, the interview process and a whole series of other things...oh and a lucky roll of the dice doesn't hurt.
Generally the 1200+ hour pilots with AK time will have a chance at the Cherokee.
Pilots with less than 750 will end up as a 208 SIC, 750+ and no AK time will up the odds of a Metro or Saab right-seat, which one depends on that lucky roll of the dice.
Once you are hired and assigned an airplane( based on the above) the upgrade process will go something like this:
When 208 SIC has 750+ hours he/she can upgrade to the right seat of the Metro or Saab, unless they like flying the bush and wish to remain there where they can continue to fly SIC build more time(the min TT needed is 1200hrs) and upgrade to a Cherokee. After sufficient experience is obtained they can upgrade to the left seat of a 208 and then a Metro or Saab (left seat).
If the SIC 208 reaches 750+ hours and does not wish to remain in the bush the progression is to move to Anchorage, fly SIC in the SA227 or SF34 then upon reaching 1200 hoursTT, go back to the bush to PIC time in the Cherokee. When sufficient experience is reached an upgrade to the left seat of the Caravan Metro or Saab will follow. This seems to depend on their need and your desire. Although the proces seems a bit vague it works.
One more option, 750+ hour new hires may just end up SIC in the Metro or Saab (more lucky dice needed)
Now, with all that said, nothing is for sure.
One thing is certain, you will fly 1000+ hours a year especially on the 121 side of the company.
