all of my flying has been in the corporate world but am looking into the regional s. I was wondering if i could get a few examples of a pilot scheldule for a typical month from a few different carriers.
Here's a couple examples from AirWis. The following scheduale is a typical Dornier trip, with the exeption this one seems to focus on a few citites. The first day reports at 1400 and is done by 2015L. The first line of the second day reads: FLight 5879 From Fort Wayne to O'Hare departs at 0725 (Local times here) and arrives at 0725. 1 hour schedualed block and 1 hour on the ground before departing on 5730 to Lancing.
I would post a schedule, but I don't think it would help much. Before I started this job, I was a 121 dispatcher, and flew cargo, and I thought I knew what an airline schedule would be like. I had no idea. You have to live it to understand it, I firmly believe. Also, every person at the airline has a different schedule, depending on what they bid, their seat and seniority, and what the airline is doing that month. There is no typical month, and sometimes you get something good only to find out that you just taught all the guys senior to you how to bid properly. Anyway, some months I get 14 days off, all weekends, others, 12 days during the week. Now I have to decide whether to bid captain or not, and go back on reserve. Not my idea of fun. Good luck to you.
I agree with skydiverdriver in that every regionals schedule will very greatly. Where I work I usually fly 10-15 days a month with 10 days a month off guaranteed. The remainder are reserve days (all the pilots sit reserve, doesnt just go to the junior guys). The amount of hours you fly varies quite a lot from season to season but this winter I have been averaging about 45 a month. We are home every night unless we are doing charter work which sometimes requires a RON. Our schedule is further divided into AM and PM components. To give you an idea of the times involved, PM reserve runs from 1pm til 1am. Pretty good schedule really. Hope this helps.
