Well, here goes my first post, go easy on me it's a whole new world for me. I'm an RJ capt at ASA and I'm trying to learn about the fractional world. From the little that I"ve learned thus far it seems like NetJets might be a good option for me should I have the outrageous good fortune of cracking into the interview process but I have a few VERY basic questions and would greatly appreciate some real world infor from you guys who are living it.

What would be a reasonable guess for the first couple of years pay and upgrade time?

Can you fly past 60 years old?

Are people in general satisfied, would it be a good career move or is the job security as bad as the regional world?

Thanks in advance for any help and considered opinions.

1st year pay $46,286. 18 day schedule, and $39,000. 7 & 7, bump it up a couple thousand for year 2. Don't know about the upgrade, currently 2200+ pilots and upgrades are in the 1500 seniority numbers.

Can you fly past 60 years old?
Yes, fly until you die or can't get a first or second class.

I like it.

how come the "real" corporate guys seem to have a hard-on for frax guys?

I don't. But, then, I'm not a "real" corporate guy. It's just a temp job--kind of like my airline job... ;) TC

P.S.--It's hard to get warm-fuzzies about the frax industry when their salesmen are sending flowers and candy to the guy who signs your Pt. 91 paycheck. Basically, there's a bounty on any frax salesmen who come near a 91 dept's hangar.

There are instances where fractional ownerrship is more beneficial to a corporation then out right ownership.

Welcome to the world of a free market society. If there wasn't something to this frac thing then it would have faded away a long time ago.

I gotta agree that's pretty friggin sleezy. What TC said pretty much covers why Frax/corp have such a nasty relationship. You can see it on NBAA airmail where the debate goes on and on.

Add a salesman knocking on your door saying our guys can do it for less, you'll go farther, pay less, have more free time, and we're going to get you to mars by next week. (don't all salesman promise the moon)

Some corporate entities that have their own aircraft also have a share in fractional ownership. They use it for extra lift when needed.

You guys are getting off topic. He wanted to know the differences between regional and frax.. not about sleazy salesmen.

I have a good friend who is a 5 year Capt at ASA. I'm at NJA. I spoke with him recently and he seemed to envy what I have.. go figure!! Before November, when we were under the old contract I would have said to stay at ASA and hope for Delta. With the new contract in place and the growth in the frax industry, I would tell you to come to NJA if you get the chance.

I think upgrade now for a new hire would be AT LEAST 3 years, but who knows. We get new airplanes all the time and that will continue for the next few years.

1st year FO: $39000 on 7 and 7 $46,286 on 18 day schedule
3rd year FO: $43000 $51,000

5 year CPT: $90,000 $107,000

Overtime is paid after 12 hours of work and some other circumstances. A 6 year CPT, me, makes $63 an hour OT

Extended days, voluntary only, pays a 6 yr. CPT almost $800.

With OT and some extended days, per diem and because of a $300 per month "differences pay" for flying the XL and XLS, I will easily clear $115,000. This doesn't include company 401k match and full medical. Dont forget 3 weeks of vacation (with each "week" being 21 days) at 5 years, 12 sick days per year and crew food.

Hope that helps
