Recent Pinnacle Interviewees - Whats Up With The New Test?

For those of you who have interviewed with Pinnacle lately whats up with this new test? How was it. Just checking up on some gouge out of curiousity on aviationinterviews.com and it sounds like a beast!

What was your experience?

It was by far the hardest interview I've ever been to. You need a CRJ-200 systems manual to study for this test. Studying the ATP written is helpful, however you need to be able to apply the knowledge from the written to CRJ systems. Questions such as What is the critical AOA of a CRJ 200? Describe Coffin Corner, what is a TRU (Transformer Rectifier Unit) used for? The Aviation Interviews website has the latest and greatest gouge. Kim from HR said they are looking to hire 400-500 pilots this year, and if you have the time (3500) upgrade is around 6 months to one year. Out of 30 people interviewed on 3-30, 17 failed the written and were sent home. I hear there is a 50% failure rate in ground school also. Seems like they are proud of the failure rate. Hope this helps.

Thats unfortunate...why would you be questioning candidates about an aircraft they have never flown? Imagine going in there without any gouge and they start asking you CRJ questions...I would be insulted.

Ive recieved an offer to interview with them that I am very excited about. I can look beyond the no training pay...but this kind of thing (interview q's) raises some serious concerns. I dont want to spend lots of time studying and spend money on a new fancy suit and some time off work to go down there and not get hired because I dont know CRJ info.

Curious.

Edit: Youve got a PM btw.

Maybe they have a new deal with a school that does training on the CRJ, it is their way of screening so they only hire those people from the preferred school (i.e. school that paid them a kickback).

TRUs are not exclusive to CRJs and most jets have around the same critical AOA. The high failure rate is representative of the CFIs with NO jet or turbine experience, what else would you expect? It's a good thing The Academy prepares us well for such interviews if I ever choose to do one, I'll know that I'm more than prepared.

Dont mind the hijack...theres just a few factors in mind...

Both my fiance and I want to get back home...she has great earning potential with her work there.

Do you think that 1ooo PIC in the Otter will hold value in the future market?

Im not unhappy at Scenic...just trying to do whats right for family as well as career.

Thoughts?

You won't find those in a CRJ manual, they are just common knowledge that us with jet experience have.

They are asking the critical AOA because of the dumb$hits that stalled the CRJ at 410 because they thought it was "cool" to be up at such a high altitude. Frankly, the VAST majority of Pinnacle pilots don't have the slightest clue about jet performance and aerodynamic characteristics. I'm glad The Academy covers that stuff and more.

Shut up about "the academy" Stupid Tool!

Never speak ill of the dead!! Or didn't the Acadmey teach you that??

D O R K!

I'm not speaking ill of the dead as they have my deepest sympathy. I know it sounds harsh but they were stupid trying to take a CRJ up that high just for kicks. The truth hurts. Say what you want about The Academy, but they teach us about such things such as high altitude and high speed aerodynamics.

You will find it in the CRJ manuals. Do some research. Screw your experience.

He can't...THE ACADMENY HAS TO TEACH IT TO HIM

The Academy.

Whatever.

What happened to studying the books instead of someone teaching it to you?

You mean FTD experience right?

Good luck with your job hunt.

Yes actually you are right. I've never been in an actual CRJ, but at The Academy they do take up to 410 in the CRJ FTD to show us about high and low speed boundaries.

Oh my GAWD!! I AM SOOOO GOING TOOO....

oh wait this is flamebait.

Does anyone else think 'training' and '8HRRULE' has yet another screen name?

I was having a bad day until I read this post. I don't even really care whether he's for real or not, that sh*t is classic. What a F***ing nerd. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. Okay ... time to go update my profile to include my Frasca time!!

Pathetic.

What? I thought I saw something earlier about "jet experience"? Previous airline?
