Has any body been able to get aboard Skywest below a 1000TT, (or below posted minimums on the web site)............................................I was considering doing a one day trip out to the cattle call in Dallas at the end of the month............Any Info appreciated

I know of one guy who got hired from the open house with a touch over a thousand hours. But he had 700hrs. in a turbine 121 environment. I had 1800 hrs. and 400 in a CRJ and they said my time was pretty low but I had turbine 121 experience so I got an interview.

I would really doubt anyone with less than the posted mins will get anything other than a "thanks for showing interest" handshake.

I had an interview Captain in the jumpseat a couple of months ago and he said they're looking for guys with about 2000 TT, lots of multi and at least some turbine or 135 experience. Someone who flew cargo or charter for about 6 months was a pefect candidate. This was back when they were hiring almost exclusively into the jet, but as has been posted here recently the seatlock for most EMB FOs is about to expire so most new jet positions will be filled by transitions. Newhires will thus mostly go into the Bro. Usually newhires into the Brasilia are picked up with times closer to mins (depending on the supply of candidates on the market), but I've never heard of anyone getting on with less than mins.

I went to the group interview at LAX a couple months ago. The first thing they did when they got us all in the room for the presentation was make sure everyone met the minimums. It's a gamble, but I don't think they'll hire w/ less than their minimums. I was at 1040TT and 140ME when I got hired, so they will hire at their minimums. Most of the people in my class had over 2000TT or had 121/135 experience.

Unfortunately you will not get hired on at Sky if you do not meet the minimums that are published. They are not flexible on this one, straight from the LAX CP..

good luck,

I heard that at the PDX road show that 20 people showed up over 2 days.

I think they are just looking for people to show up. That's why SkyWest is going to Air-Inc.

People say a lot of things and the do it differently. If you met the mins then go, don't try and figure it out for them.

Just be better prepared than everyone else and then you can also work for free for 2 months and then fly 4-day trips that pay 16-18 hours with locals on the front or back end for the next 4-10 years.

Good Day

Oh Splert, why so negative? The no pay thing sucked that's for sure, but complaining about schedules too... what gives? Whining on this board isn't gonna make it better.

HE MUST EITHER BE BASED AT IAH OR ORD. POOR BASTARD

Airspur,

Only in aviation is the truth a negative.

Only in aviation is giving someone else a heads up on what to expect as a new pilot on the bottom of a pilot list about to be 2000 deep whining.

propsarebest,

Why are you yelling? It isn't about me it about guys trying to get on here with seniority in the low 2000's.

What the message from you two chicks to the new guy? That they will hold 3 day trips that start at 09:00 and release at 18:00 on the third day and pay 23 hours for the next 5 years and they will get a $1500 a week in training and their own private room plus lunch on the company every day during training?

Good Day.

Thanks Guys For The Input............................................................................................ Looks Like I'll just keep on praying to the Great God of Express Jet for the next couple of months

sorry I'm not too familiar with the terminology, but what is the typical schedule at Skywest? on the RJ and on the 120. Thanks!

I was in ground school on Aug 23rd and am now able to hold weekends off with 16 days off per month. Last months lines of 24 available at my base had 4 lines with 18 days off, 3 lines with 17 days off, 4 lines with 16 days off, etc etc. It's not too bad after the initial 6 months. credit times are in the 85-90 range. We get block or credit which ever is higher. Your first year is gonna suck anywhere. I don't know why some people bitch about the difference between a couple of thousand dollars. Who cares. Is a couple of thousand going to make the world of a difference in your life. Go somewhere where your QOL will be decent and don't put yourself in a position where your going to hate it. Then you'll be fine. We just had our newest upgrade class get awarded and the lowest seniority had 9 months with the company. (IAH of course). If you don't like houston, then don't bid the upgrade and wait till you hold a base of your liking. It's what you make of it. You control your QOL. I for one and loving every minute of being here. I haven't run into any pilot that bitches and complains. You'll have your occasional ahhhhhhh that sucks, but thats anywhere you go. Winter hasn't been great in Socal, so we've had a lot of cancellations, hasn't everyone? It's a great place to be guys. As is a lot of other regionals. We've got 2-4 planes being delivered per month till June, plus deals are being made with Northwest that will hopefully pan out.

Good Luck!

BTW, I was hired with 1050TT and 150ME- no prior 121/135 expereince. They won't hire anyone under their mins. But they're not afraid of hiring someone who barely meets the mins. Attitude is everything.

you can expect to be on 4 and off 3 days on average (EMB or RJ). After 6-12 months you WILL hold a line of your choice.

See you on the line!

I think it's a GREAT idea!........Anyone with less than 1000tt should work the ramp a while before they earn enough time to be hired as a crewmember.;)
