My question is would a replacement of a flap control rod require a flight test of the aircraft after completion?

What type of aircraft? What does the MM say? If the flap was not required to be removed to replace the rod, I doubt a flight is required.

For almost any GA aircraft the answer would be no. Just make sure the adjustment is such that both flaps fall within the proper angles for all positions(proper calibrated tool required) as specified in TC, rod ends are in far enough and all safeties are secure.

Thanks for the input guys. I knew these and just needed confirmation. It seems one of the other guys I fly with, a non-A&P'd pilot, thinks he knows more than he really does.
