radio station license

From what ive been told, you dont need a radio station license in the airplane when operating inside the US. Where could i find this info in writing? Can it be found in the FARs? Where? Please HELP!

Sure don't.

I could not find it in the regs.

However, I did find my Private pilot oral guide....

"On October 26th of 1996 the FCC eliminated the individual licensing requirement for all aircraft operating domestically. This means that you do not need a license to operate a two-way VHF radio, radar, or ELT aboard aircraft operating domestically. All other aircraft radio stations must be licensed by the FCC either individually or by fleet. The new rule applies to all aircraft, including scheduled air carriers, air taxis, as well as general aviation aircraft, as long as they fly domestically."

The first point states:

An RP is NOT needed to operate the following:

-a voluntarily equipped ship or aircraft station (including a CAP station) which operates only on VHF frequencies and does not make foreign voyages or flights.

If you can't find a reg stating that you have to have it, isn't that the same as not needing it?

Having been ramped 3 times in my career, the helpful ASIs have never asked to see it. (though I do have one for Int'l flights).

Don't need in the US.

Canada requires you to have a permit issued from the FCC. Even though the FCC has no jurisdiction in CA, it is still required.

I'm not sure if other countries have the same requirement.
