I'm sure many of us here have flown R/C airplanes. It's been a long time for me but growing up in my teen years I flew and competed in "pattern" competition. Loved the tuned pipes and aerobatics, such a different world of R/C flying these days. Anyways, what made the R/C flying such a joy was a great field and the people. The field that I went to growing up closed and real-estate took over the area sadly (Oilville, VA) and I've been to the various fields in the Richmond, VA area not finding that many people flying R/C these days sadly. I really want to get back into it, it was such a joy but finding the time to do it again among other hobbies I've gotten into (flying, RVing, etc.) makes it difficult. The planes now are very different too with so many ARF's, I really miss the balsa wood, smells of building and painting planes, etc. So much fun. Maybe someday I'll get back into it again.
