Good morning. I have been a lurker for the last month or so. I have seen the bad and the good opinions, and I am happy that some poeple have such diverse thoughts. Anyways, to get straight to the point.
There were are couple people going to interview at QX this week or last. I have looked at aviaitoninterviews.com and there are no new gouges. Could someone please email me their sim ride and anything that stuck out that sould be remembered in the interview. I am looking to do a career with QX. If anyone has any advice please let me know. I would really appriciate it. Thanks.

PM dispatcher121, she works there and has helped ALOT of guys get interviews. MAYBE she can help, or can point you in the right direction.

QX info

I interviewed about a month ago, and I had a couple of friends interview last week. Your best bet for the sim is to book time on Hillsboro Aviation's frasca-142. Let Hillsboro know that it's for Horizon prep so that they can schedule you with the appropriate instructor. This is the same sim used for the interview.

Some common routes flown are Pasco to Pendleton, Pullman to Lewiston and Pendleton to Walla Walla. There are a few others but I can't remember off the top of my head. Just like in the gouges say you fly from point to point. You typically fly a non precision to missed and hold, them come back in on the ILS and land.

Plan for a short X-country (like the examples given in the previous post) flown single pilot from start to finish. Check weather, available approaches, NOTAMs, pilot reports, etc. You could be out of radar contact and have to tell "ATC" what your plans are (might work out or ATC advises to plan on something else). Checklists used to be not required, all switches can stay in the same position, but you do have to make all radio calls, frequency changes, tune & ident..... The SIM is set to turbulence level #4 on a Frasca 142. I also recommend going to Hillsboro Aviation to practice just to get comfortable with the SIM, unless you have a Frasca SIM available for cheaper somewhere else for cheaper. The instructors probably know the gauges but so do you by now, so I don't think you really need the help of an instructor.
If you have been flying single pilot lately, most questions asked, and the SIM ride seem to be almost second nature.
Good luck!!!!

Everyone,
Thank you very much for all of the help. I am going to do the prep course at BFI ahead of time and then go to Hillsburo the day before to make sure everything is in order.
Dispatcher121,
You have gone out of your way to help me, Thank you. I will keep you in the loop.

IMHO, the place at BFI is mainly interested in selling their "package." Might be what you need if you're not current IFR. But don't be too surprised if they push you to buy more time, or attempt to scare you about your chances based on their take on your flying. I think the right instructor at HIO will be a lot more useful.

Good luck. Perfect isn't required. Attitude is what seems to count.

Couldn't agree more, I looked into buying just some sim time at this place and they immediately try to upsell you into their $500 package and try to scare you into thinking you are unprepared for the interview portion as well. I could rent the sim but it would have to be with an instructor and they said they wouldn't allow me to fly any of the QX profiles only local approaches. I said thanks but no thanks. I ended up flying the profiles on a Microsoft sim and rented a Frasca 141 at a local airport for $30 bucks to get my scan back. It worked out great

I have not interviewed yet, but for the Q&A, a buddy of mine recommended a book by Air Inc. called Questions? Questions? and it has a lot of good stuff in it.
