Questions for the NASCAR Air Force

Delays at the NASACR events are directly related to how deep your buried on the ramp, single vs. multiple runway operations, and finally, did your guy crash in lap 90, NO RUSH on that early departure!!!!

And the reason behind using "Air Force" for a civilian group? Educate me.

Maybe because it's been proven that civvy guys can do it just as well as you AF gifts to aviation..

Just out of curiosity. How does one "Volunteer" for NASCAR "Air Force" or does one usually get "Drafted" by an old "War" buddy who you flew with down in the "Trenches" when you were "In-Country" at the regionals?

not only is it called the nascar airforce but if you talk to most atc folks who work the traffic they refer to it as the redneck airforce

The Airforce knows nothing about the three wire... you've heard the saying "Flair to land....squat to pee" haven't you?

A friend was hired after flying a 1900 for Ganassi right seat for free for a few months while still in college.

He got that gig through an internship in Charlotte with a company unrelated directly to any race teams where he made a friend.

I grew up in Charlotte, was on a local volunteer fire dept for 4 years and many of the guys I knew worked at least part time in the business, and the prevailing attitude in Nascar is the good ole boy network.

Isn't this over stepping it a little?

I know Texx. Good guy. Texx, it's a nickname for the large amount of NASCAR planes that almost fly in a huge pack from the Charlotte area to that week's race, and back after the race. I flew a Brasilia for the 94 & 13 cars in 1998.

There was even an article in Flying magazine a few years ago, with a great radar shot, and i'm pretty sure they referred to it as the NASCAR Air Force too. Hell, until they had to change to be PC, how about the Confederate AF?
