Hi gang,
Here at good old Delta, we will probably be moving to a Preferential Bidding System as part of the concession package. We had one at Delta Express but it was pretty rudimentary and was changed to standard Line-Of-Time bidding before I got there. Basically at Delta right now we have LOT bidding and we use a computer program to sort through the lines per your preferences. I understand with PBS you basically score your preferences and the computer spits out your schedule. (I know thats oversimplified) I know it can be great or your worst nightmare, especially as you make some horrible mistakes learning the system.
Anyway I know Jetblue pilots, ex-TWA pilots and others have experience with PBS. What do you like about the system, what do you not like about the system...what are some good tips, etc.
I am most curious about how seniority gets factored into the mix and is there an appreciable difference in days off, ability to enhance your days off around vacation, how do reserve schedules work out, etc.
I know various work rules come into play and it can get complicated but I'd love to hear some people's opinions...
(Please no flames, anti JB, DL, AA, CMR/ASA/DCI/RJDC, blah blah blah....plenty of other threads for that....)
