Question on Delta's AE's.

Just curious how the standing bid bidding is done at Delta.

1. How often? Do AE's come out on "need to staff" or "regular no matter what" bases, i.e. twice a year or so?

2. Once you are awarded new category do you have anything to say when exactly your training starts? Is there bidding within the assigned to the same category group of pilots?

3. I heard the next AE is in Feb08. When is the one after that?

4. How long before the AE does the company announce about it coming out?

Whenever they are needed

Training goes in senority order with the exception of senior pilots who do not wish to give up their vacation. Then they getted skipped without pay protection.

3. I heard the next AE is in Feb08. When is the one after that?

Whenever the company feels it needs one. With the way aircraft deliveries are coming in I would anticipate one around May-June timeframe.

4. How long before the AE does the company announce about it coming out?

They usually don't "announce" it until it's posted however you usually hear rumors of it for a month or two prior (just like the fabled Feb bid)
