I live in Toledo about 10 minutes from the airport and was considering applying to ATI. Is there any advantage to living in Toledo? Could you sit reserve at home? What about Stan/Eval or Management positions? I'm just trying to be home as much as possible and was wondering if this was an option.

Yes, living in Toledo would likely keep you home much more than other pilots. Many guys that live there bid hot standby which allows them to go to the hub, sleep and go home in the morning if they haven't been utilized. The disadvantage to living in Toledo is that you'll probably get a lot of 2AM phone calls from scheduling.

Most mgmt positions require a move to LIT, so if you want to stay in TOL, stay out of mgmt. We're not military, so we don't have "stan/eval" :p, but we do have line and off-line check airmen, who live where they want. As a new hire, you wouldn't likely be offered a check airman position unless you became an off-line check airman, which of course would require some background in the area. A line crew member living in TOL can spend a lot of time at home, if that's your goal, but as mentioned, you are liable to get a lot of last minute "save us!" calls in the middle of the night on days off. Unlikely to hire any more until after Sept, but watch www.airtransport.cc under employment for openings that may pop up.
