I have been asking around and keep getting a split answer. I am just about to hit 1000 PIC and have my type scheduled for July 16. Should I put my resume in as soon as I hit the time, or wait until I have both? Or does it not matter at all? Just trying to get a better idea of what I should do. Its so hard not to put it in tomorrow when I get the 1000. Thanks in advance!

put it in the second you hit 1000, then update when you get the type.

Wait a few days and call to ask if they got the update.

Some were pretty senior Capts and check airmen? I can't through out all their knowledge.

update, wait a week, update, repeat.

Good info, keep it coming! Does anyone know what the competitive times are right now?

I had my app. in two years before I had any PIC Turbine. Updated monthly until I hit 1700ish and then got the call.

You can't apply online now without checking all the boxes. One of them says, do you have 1000 hours Turbine PIC.

Cherry. This is not difficult. :) When you meet the absolute rock bottom can't be any less qualified minimums then put your app in. Update regularly. When you get your type let them know.

........ and I swear to GOD. If I hear about you taking any more airline application/interview advice from your "check airmen" and "senior captains" I'll hunt down your app and personally rip it from the database. The only thing you need to know from them is why they are happy flying falcons for a non-sched for their career.

Good luck in the process.

In good humor (I hope),
Gup

p.s. You know a crazy Iranian named Nick over there?

Humor doesn't lack on my side, I am a "Senior Captain". I wasn't talking about Cherry check airmen, I was talking about SWA guys. I don't think anyone wants to fly on demand in Falcons for the rest of their life, except the USA Jet guys, your supposed to laugh now. (I hope)

I don't know anyone named Nick here but my friend I went to school with. Don't think there is an Iranian here?

And I will put my stuff in at the absolute mins now that everyone thinks that is best. Just didn't know, thought they might call you quicker if you put your app in with everything, if I even get a call.

Thanks for all the info though!

It was a tough decision....USA Jet or Southwest.

Just so it's clear, you submit an application that's updateable at SWA as often as you desire. Submitting a resume to SWA is something you do at a job fair or similar endeavor.

And I'm seconding and thirding everyone else's advice... submit either ASAP when you meet the mins. Unless there's some weird situation where there are two job fairs, one before and one after your type rating where you might potentially submit a resume to someone at SWA. In that case... go to both job fairs!

Good luck!
