For those based in NY but live in another state...

Does your company take out any NY specific taxes??

I was ALB based with my previous company and they took out NY state taxes stating that anyone based in NY is required to pay this tax. Now, my current employer states that they are not required to take any NY state tax out unless my on file residence is in NY.

The tax wasn't much each check... but that's not the point.

Thanks

Nah, not NY taxes.

I was based at JFK for 3 different airlines, none of them witheld any state tax.

Taxes

Hey chper,

I guess they decided to take out taxes "based on merit"......did not take any out of mine. Maybe because us FO's were already at poverty level, the state couldn't tax us:)

I'm not JFK based (yet)...

...but not even our JFK crews pay NY taxes unless they reside in NY. This was specifically brought up during indoc: You only have to pay NY tax if you claim a NY residence.

Good luck.

I didn't think I had to pay them.... Didn't think I had to pay them with the last company either.

Thanks for the info..

Chperplt<-----JFK bound in AUG I think

As far as I know they should only take state taxes out for the state that you claim residence in (or where you live). So say your based in LGA and live in Ohio then you should pay Ohio state income taxes.

When I was based in SYR and moved there with ALG for the first 6 months I had my residence with the company listed as my parents address in PA, just to lazy to fill out the form and change it to NY. They took PA taxes out until I changed my residence. That was back in 2001-2002. I moved back from NY to Pa last summer and now live in PA but am based in DCA. I pay PA state income.
