How hard is it to jumpseat from Hawaii to the Mainland and back. Are you able to get on flights without much hassle?

Depends on the season... nowadays... it's hit and miss. Going to the mainland is generally a little easier than coming this way.

Dis-AAdvantage miles

I have had no problem getting to the islands lately, but it is the season for frequent flyers to cash in their miles and Hawai'i is a favorite destination. I was bumped off a Delta flight last month, but was able to get to a United flight that left about an hour later. You can also consider going to Maui, Hilo or Kona and jumping on Aloha or Hawaiian to get to HNL, if that's your destination.

Have a list of all your options and plan ahead. You might want to carry an ID90 just to CYA. If you don't use it, you can get your money back.
