Do you have to fly the Beech 1900 as Capt before you upgrade to the SAAB and capt..? So if your hired as FO in the SAAB can you upgrade to Capt in the SAAB if you got the time..?
Thanks
Majority of Saab upgrades are from Saab FOs. Many of the Beech CAs are transitioning to the Saab, though, so there is a little slow-down on Saab FO upgrade.Do you have to fly the Beech 1900 as Capt before you upgrade to the SAAB and capt..? Well the major reason I was looking at Colgan was for the quick upgrade (PIC Turbine), and they have a base in TYR where I could live for free.

In a related note: Why are you even asking? You're an idiot if you choose Colgan. First, there's the ALPA issue that you're going to be immediately exposed to. Secondly, the way Colgan is run is a joke. Enjoy your training, it's a nightmare. Do the wise thing and go elsewhere. Try an airline that's higher on the food chain, like Mesa. Colgan is a stinking hole, save yourself. It's nearly impossible to get the stink out of your cloths and hair...

I'm the most junior Captain in TYR and happen to like it here. The worst problem I have is commuting, but if you live here, you'll like it. Tyler has no traffic, an easy drive to the airport, not as many obnoxious northerners, 80+ hours of flying with 14 days off a month. Colgan is not as bad as you'll hear from the previous posts. You just have to use Colgan for what it's worth. Quick upgrade, lots of flying, outstation bases, home every night, and overall a good experience for a stepping stone. If you want to sit on reserve, stay at a regional for a career, have a wide-set scrambled egg b/w the leg with heavy flow, hate to handfly airplanes, declare emergencies if you're autopilot or FMS doesn't work, simply go to another regional. If you want to literally fly an airplane and can do so, come to Colgan and you will not be dissapointed. If you can't fly an airplane, but can push buttons and like computers, go to another regional with a jet. It's that simple

Isn't it everyone's goal to end up pushing buttons and sitting on reserve forever.....

Pinnacle or Shuttle...... they're run well......
Point taken. Perhaps not the best examples, but considering the current company-of-discussion, they don't fare too poorly.?? You might want to talk to some of the folks who work at those places.
