I was an alternate last go around with the CG and I applied again...to give you a background about myself, I am an airline pilot now furloughed I have 2200TT or close to that. I have always wanted to be in the CG it was hard to find a good recruiter so it took me a while to get the ball going but I am now 26. What do you think my chances are getting in because this is what I really want to do. Could someone shed some lite on how many they plan on hiring? and if my prior flight time will hurt me.

Your flight time won't hurt you and it will certainly help when competing for a flight slot in OCS. We are currently over 100 pilots short so we are always looking. If you can get accepted into OCS you have a great chance of getting into the flight program.

Here is the most recent message. If you have no prior military flight experience the ages are for the OCS reserve commission.

Good luck.

ALCOAST 485/08
COMDTNOTE 1100
SUBJ: STANDARDIZATION OF AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-ACADEMY OFFICER
COMMISSIONING PROGRAMS
1. THIS MESSAGE ANNOUNCES IMPLEMENTATION OF AGE STANDARDIZATION FOR
17 COMMISSIONING PROGRAMS WHICH HAVE BEEN GROUPED INTO FIVE
DISTINCT PROGRAMS (OCS TEMPORARY COMMISSION, OCS RESERVE
COMMISSION, DIRECT COMMISSIONING OFFICER PROGRAMS, AVIATION
PROGRAMS, AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS). THESE CHANGES SIMPLIFY THE
AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR EASE OF USE BY APPLICANTS, EDUCATIONAL SERVICE
OFFICERS (ESO), AND RECRUITERS. IN ADDITION, THESE CHANGES
ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR CONSTRUCTIVE AGE AND AGE-ASSOCIATED WAIVERS
BY EXPANDING AGE RANGE TO INCLUDE APPLICANTS WHO REQUIRED AGE
WAIVERS IN THE PAST.
2. ALL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THESE REVISED STANDARDIZED AGE
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS AS OUTLINED BELOW, WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF CWOS APPLYING FOR OCS:
A. OCS (TEMPORARY) COMMISSION: APPLICANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THEIR
21ST BIRTHDAY, BUT NOT THEIR 35TH BIRTHDAY, AS OF 30 SEPTEMBER OF
THE FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH THE PANEL CONVENES. CONSTRUCTIVE AGE DOES
NOT APPLY.
B. OCS (RESERVE) COMMISSION: APPLICANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THEIR
21ST BIRTHDAY, BUT NOT THEIR 31ST BIRTHDAY, AS OF 30 SEPTEMBER OF
THE FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH THE PANEL CONVENES. CONSTRUCTIVE AGE DOES
NOT APPLY.
C. DIRECT COMMISSION OFFICER PROGRAM (EXCEPT AVIATION AND
SELECTED RESERVE): APPLICANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THEIR 21ST
BIRTHDAY, BUT NOT THEIR 41ST BIRTHDAY, AS OF 30 SEPTEMBER OF THE
FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH THE PANEL CONVENES. CONSTRUCTIVE AGE DOES NOT
APPLY.
D. AVIATION PROGRAMS:
(1) OCS AND DIRECT COMMISSION: NO CHANGE FROM CURRENT AGE
REQUIREMENTS.
(2) BLUE 21 AND AVCAD: NO CHANGE FROM CURRENT AGE RANGE.
HOWEVER, TO BE CONSISTENT WITH OTHER COMMISSIONING PROGRAMS, THE
AGE DETERMINING DATE HAS CHANGED TO 30 SEPTEMBER OF THE FISCAL YEAR
IN WHICH THE PANEL CONVENES.
E. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS (CSPI, PPEP, AND CMAPPP): CSPI AND CMAPPP
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THEIR 19TH BIRTHDAY, BUT NOT THEIR
28TH BIRTHDAY, AS OF 30 SEPTEMBER OF THE FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH THE
PANEL CONVENES. PPEP APPLICANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THEIR 21ST
BIRTHDAY, BUT NOT THEIR 33RD BIRTHDAY AS OF 30 SEPTEMBER OF THE
FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH THE PANEL CONVENES.

50/50. You either get it or you don't.

I can't give you any better odds than that but if you were an alternate you were obviously close. Hopefully this time you will get it. Good luck.
