CHQ has ERJs and CRJs. Both Republic and Shuttle have only the 170s. Why have both certificates? I understand the need to have CHQ and another certificate for the 170s but two just for the 170s?

While we are at it, I will ask another CHQ question.

Is it one senoirity list with pilots moving between certificates?

Or does each certificate seperate out a group of pilots onto multiple lists?

Shuttle has 170's that are only 70 seats.

Republic has 170s/175s over 70 seats.

One seniority list with folks moving between certificates.

To add to the previous answers; SA flies for Delta and United. Republic flies for USAir and Frontier. There is a no competition clause out of hub cities in the UAL contract. SA would not be able to fly for Frontier and USAir due to Denver and DCA bases.

all the certificates are in place to avoid scope clauses on other certificates.

CHQ scope w/ american 50 seaters only.

SA scope w/ United no bigger then 70 seats.

RP no scope that i know of.

It's all just another wink-and-a-nod shell game to bypass a contract.

They promised not to fly more than X amount of seats if awarded flying by United/AA, then as soon as the ink dries they create a new "certificate" and do whatever they please.

This is strictly a bash on management, not pilots.

Which base and airplane would make for the easiest commute to Jax?

Hopefully they will open ATL. That would be a great commute for you.
Out of JAX you just want to find a one leg commute. ORD, IAH, LGA,STL

You may change certificates only if it results in a pay increase. IE you can go from E170 FO on SA or RP to CHQ E145 CA or CRJ CA then to E170 CA back at either SA or RP. If you are a FO you can't transfer to anther FO anywhere nor can you go from SA E170 CA to RP E170 CA. Be advised that the company is trying to impose a seat lock in equipment. Management screwed up and didn't hire/train enough pilots so they want to bypass seniority to reduce training slots. So only E145 FO's will be able to upgrade.
