So we're in Colo Springs today...on the way out to Houston they want to load us up with 50 peeps, there's a FA jumpseater, we've got 66 bags, 15 or so gate checks, and 1 heavy bag. We're in a 145XR, its 4 Celsius, and the winds are light, no alternate for Houston. Anyway, we wind up able to get out, 4 lbs underneath an obstacle limitation on 35L, USING E TO (the highest thrust setting we have, only avail on the XR).

So, for those at CHQ or those on the CRJ, is such a flight possible on the CRJ? I am asking b/c I have little knowledge of the airplane and I just cant figure out why the geniuses at Continental have decided that COS-IAH would be one of the routes our new best buddies CHQ will be flying. Mind you, as well, this was WINTER! It does get hot there, how is this going to work in the summer?!?!??!

Oh yeah, to the US Airways ramp crew which downloaded us, uploaded us, did the lav, helped clean, and got the huffer cart all to us in 23 mins....nice job. Pushed out before MESA!!!

A friend at Mesa says the 200 is sometimes restricted on hot days out of there to only like 18 to 20 people. Thats 30 blocked seats. And thats only going to PHX not trying to carry enough gas to go to IAH.

Coudn't some ALL ATP grad answer the CRJ question? I see you guys in ads all over the place sitting in a CRJ cockpit.

usually 17r with a tailwind hit is better than 35l. i haven't been there in awhile is 17l/35r still being repaved?

Not sure using your actual numbers but I have flown COS-ORD many times before in the CRJ with ACA and I was never weight restricted. I think the flight was blocked at about 2:30hr. At max blast, flaps 20 it can usually lift a full boat. However this was a few years ago and Pax weights and their bags weighed less than they do now.

Cant take FA jumpseater dont have one but how much fuel did u have

it sounds like if u use a static t/o, no wings or cowls on a dry runway, and count the half weights and as long as u burn more than 6k of fuel it can be done but i dont work for CHQ I work for the red headed stepchild for NW

What a Dork. Was this your first flight on IOE? I remember those days like it was... Nevermind I can't remember.

Also, in addition to TUS and COS being CRJ service centers I'm sure with 35R and 17L they could get out of their with whatever Max-Blast is for that airplane. Also did you look at the Flaps 18 and Increased V2 plates? They normaly will let you use your LS number.

And like another poster said the south-facing runways with a tailwind sometimes are less restrictive than the 35's.

TUS however, will be a pain in the ass for any CRJ-200 on a long flight... But the La Quinta blows so they can have it.

^^^^^
Who cares what the ERJ 145 can do out of COS, he didnt ask that, yea we could look at the flaps 18 and v2 increased pages to take more weight but he(she) never asked that(and I dont think it matters in the XR anyway, the numbers dont change much). They asked it he CRJ 200 could take full people, full bags, and enough fuel to go to IAH and still make performance numbers. I have personally left stuff behind in the XR due to ZFW out of COS. What is the CRJ 200 ZFW compared to the XR? I dont think the XR is our saving grace, but I think it is a better airplane CRJ 200.

yeah but the last 69 of your 145s are gonna be CHQ's eventually right?

LOL - just kidding . . . .

What I'm looking at is the IAH to MSP run with those same numbers in the cr2. As far as the XR goes. Its a great product nodubt but at the end of the day its still a 145. Our bosses (that 6 ft guy in the suit thats in row 11) it's a long ride on eaither a/c. Having our passengers sit on any of these a/c for these stages suck. But if you compare the 170 to the 700. Thats a differnt animal.

P.S That COS IAH route should work

Trust me if you are above 6ft unless you are in first class, the exit row or the bulkhead all airplanes suck. I'm 6'5 and there is no difference between an rj a 737 or a 777 as far as leg room goes. Yesterday I had to dead head from ORD-IAH on a 737 and my knees were pinned against the seat in front of me and it really gets fun when the person if front of you wants to recline. After I made it to IAH I took my commute home on a 145 no difference what so ever. Once I had to deadhead from EWR-IAH on a 777 the only difference was the seat itself was more comfortable other than that same leg room. So when I hear someone 5'2 complaining about an rj I cant help but laugh.

Agreed. I'm 6'2 and I feel your pain. The difference is they pay for that seat. It may not be much but they still pay.

True but that also takes back to that old saying " you get waht you pay for". If you want a 737 with more leg room from podunk USA and only 30 people on it then you will have to spend a few dollars more.

I can relate at 6'4". It seams that all seats are the same.
Noting like riding form PHNL to KDFW with your knees in some old ladys back for 7.0hrs.

7.0hrs is a long time to be riding on some old lady's back. Welcome to the mile high club!
