Would DC ever allow a mega merged airline like Delta NW to strike down the road if their negotiations went downhill.

I feel the one thing going for us at AAI and Spirit is that we would not be blocked by the President but I could be wrong as I know he really wants to fly on our Little Debbie plane.

Both carriers don't have enough political clout or jobs to get the government's attention. I don't see a PEB in our future. Save your money.

Quick history:

Clinton waited until the AA strike to actually exercise the PEB authority.
Bush declared well prior to Delta that there would be no airline strikes on his watch. Comair was not ruled a significant impact by the NMB, thus he could not step in.

It is up to the NMB do determine significant impact (which will happen before you get released), then the pres. can start the PEB if and when he/she chooses.

Any edits?
