Just curious how this works. I know that if you live in domicile you can just drive to work and park in the employee parking lot. What happens if you commute from lets say xyz to where you are based at abc. Do you regional drivers have to pay to park at xyz while your working out of abc? Hopefully someone can explain this to me, because some of the those parking rates are scary expensive. Thanks.

whatever airport you are commuting out of - go see the ticket counter for your airline. All those people have some sort of local parking system. They may direct you to where you can purchase a parking pass from the local station manager or something similar. What airport are you commuting from? Perhaps somebody on here already knows the sytem - there will be one for employees.

For example I commute out of ORD. There is one large employee lot run by AMC and I can purchase a 6 month pass from the US Air station manager for $200.

Thanks weasil. 200 bucks for half a year isnt too bad. I was worried it would be like 200 a month.

Id be commuting out of PHX to somewhere like DEN or ORD, if anyone has more specifics for that exact setup I'd appreciate it.

Some companies will reimburse you up to the value of a parking pass or other predetermined amount as set by your domicile airport parking service. For instance, if you were based in DEN and they charged $300 for the year, then some companies will give you an allowance of $300 for the year where ever it is you commute from. So, the point of this is to check with your company. Could be a great benefit if they offer it...oh, and save your receipt for the reimbursement.

This one works if you're strapped for cash and have an airport beater...

Find some legal (and unmetered) street parking near an employee lot or maybe a private parking lot...park your car, walk over to the lot and ride the bus to the terminal! If you're using a private fee-for-parking lot be sure and tip the driver.

In PHX, try parking on/around 24th st. near the runway, there's a large employee lot there. Also see about just buying a quarterly parking pass, there is an office curbside at either terminal 2 or 3.
