Got the call this week and will be starting class on the XL

Can anybody give me an insight into the QOL on the XL

How busy is the fleet ?
Are FOs upgrading into the XL from other types ?
What's it like to fly on the line ?

I have done a search and read a lot about the company sorry if this is repeat information.

Thanks

I would venture to say that it is one of the busiest fleets because the XL fleet is the largest fleet (one of the most popular types for owners) I believe. The XL, X and Ultra/Encore fleets are all huge in terms of number of aircraft each and I think all are very busy as a result. Given that there are so many XLs, they will often cover for other fleets that have broken aircraft (e.g., Beechjet). I have a friend who flies the XL for NJA and he claims his tours are very busy with multiple sectors per day - that being said, he prefers to fly than just sit in an FBO.

I believe upgrade is always based on seniority so that won't be an issue. You will probably be trained on both the XL and the XLS (newer version with better avionics package) and you will earn some extra cash for being trained on both - that's a good deal. Overall, I have heard very positive things about the XL and I have been told it is fun to fly. You certainly will get to see many interesting airports nationwide that you would never see flying 121 - expect great route variety...

Were you offered any other fleet types? What about other people in your class - have they been offered different aircraft?

I was offered Hawker 400XP and XL took first available class on the XL

They offered a friend of mine all aircraft types he interviewed week before.

Having come from the Ultra into the XL/XLS I can tell you we are quite a bit busier than the Ultras/Encores. The owners like the cabin and baggage area.

In the 2 years I've been in the plane I've averaged 47.8 hours/month on the 7&7 schedule with 3 weeks of vacation/year.

You will get typed in the XL in CMH most likely then a few months later you'll probably do the transition to the XLS....then you'll collect the extra $225/mo as an F/O

Upgrades in the XL.......don't even think about it!!!!! True ,it will be the first 100 aircraft fleet NetJets has, there are a ton of guys out there in the Ultra/Encore and F/O's in other larger fleets that will take the upgrade in the XL before they do in the Ultra/Encore or BeechJunk 400XP.

You'll do alot of flying.....when you're tired say so...you're done!!!!
When you're hungry...you eat......Plane and simple.....Good luck

I hear the Beechjet flies a lot less than the XL largely because there aren't many in the fleet and it breaks often. The XL is, as you would expect, a far better performer and much more capable and comfortable for the extra money... At the end of the day, you probably want the ability to fly extra hours and the XL will provide that opportunity.

What type did your friend ultimately select?

If you fly with me, you must stand at attention whenever I enter the cabin. I like my coffee with Splenda and non-dairy creamer and a Fiji water handy at all times. The lav must be spotless and I like Yanni in the CD player when we have no pax. GET BUSY!!!! :p

Hydrarkt....You for got to mention that you want you're D2 warmed through but don't dare overcook the brocolli!!!!! There will be hell to pay for that.

Don't forget the grievance that goes along with that D2.

Splenda and non dairy creamer. Your shhits must smell like roses.

Minor threadjack, but did you know that non-dairy crap is primarily corn syrup solids (worse for you than refined sugar) and partially-hydrogenated oil (Crisco!)? Yecccch! :puke:

Believe it or not, real cream would be much better for your body, unless you're lactose-intolerant. And boy, it sure tastes better. :D

...The More You Know....

The last thing the hydrkt needs to worry about is non dairy creamer. He's checking his T cell count every day.

H you off?
