The funniest thing about that article, regardless of the date, is that the 717 operation was referred to as "regional service" 4 times.

A regional jet.

Apples to apples? Sure, you trannies go with that!

Southwest - the only airline in the world with a "regional" name remaining. We'll fit right in.
You do know we fly 737s, right? Better equipped kind with business class.

Is "Alaska" considered a region? Your not too bright are you? I'll bet you are the guy in ground school who just stares back at the instructor with that "Deer in the Headlights" look when he says at the end of the day......"that's about it. Are there any questions?......."

Says the guy with almost 4,000 posts as he clings yet again to the bottom of another seniority list. Setting reserve again? At your age? On a Saturday? That virtual airline stuff at Delta getting you down? Your best bet is to try like hell actually make it off probation then go out on medical. Your career prospects aren't looking so good. I'm sure the TSA can slide you right in. You would be perfect.

So says Mr. Clean! You really are nervous, and will be placed near the bottom of your list, with complete stagnation thanks to your younger brothers joining ahead of you in your flock. Yes, I am fairly junior at my new airline, but my prospects of moving up due to projected retirements beats yours of AM trips with El Paso layovers on weekends, forever. Say hello to Redflyer at the La Quinta bar at ELP airport Mr. Rogaine!

You need to lay off the bottle If you wanna make it through this and still hold a medical. Remember, AirTran guys are used to dealing with a lot worse stuff in their daily lives. To us it's just business as usual, but you're gonna end up with a heart attack or covered in shingles if you don't relax a bit.

You sure use the reference about laying off the bottle a lot. Self reflection?
Say genius, have you been to all 57 states yet? Southwest the only regional name? Good grief. At first when I heard some of our guys want all your guys to go through a one year probation period I thought that was silly but now after reading some your posts, I am not so sure......

Fly/Sacha,

You guys really need to contact someone at the UFC so you can get into the Octagon.

Please look at facts everyone (on BOTH sides). The 717 is a SHORT to MEDIUM range airplane, MD designed the airplane to replace the DC9-30 series which fits the same category, which everyone knows, Delta (Northwest) still flies to this day (and are finally replacing). It is perfectly served in a REGIONAL capacity, much better then a 1st or 2nd generation RJ. That's it. We all know the data (or should). Calling this airplane a "Regional" airplane is NOT false. Implying that it should pay as an RJ (50-100 seat), is however. I'm don't fly the 71 anymore so I don't have a personal interest here, however a more accurate indicator of pay for the airplane (if that's what's being argued here), would be Delta.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission today issued a draft decision proposing to grant authorisation for a Joint Business Agreement (JBA) between Qantas and American Airlines. 'The ACCC does not consider that the JBA will have any anti-competitive effects, as Qantas and American Airlines do not currently provide any overlapping direct services between Australia and the United States.'. The ACCC has previously authorised an alliance between Virgin Australia and Delta Airlines on routes between Australia and the United States.
