Guy’s by now all the Purple Nuggets should be through IOE, so I was just wondering how it went for everyone. Was the training as difficult as all said it would be? Was it difficult learning a new aircraft while learning a new company at the same time? Did anyone run into any animosity from others? Just curious, since there is talk of another Bid with Purple Nuggets.

:confused:And WHY would ANYBODY be ticked at another pilot who is at FDEX? You should ALL be thanking your lucky stars!

Just finished IOE. No animosity. Training was not hard, but it was extremely thorough and very long (just under 4 months including basic indoc). The training program was top notch. There are so many events, and the training is so thorough that it is difficult not to make it through. I think you'd have to try to bone it up. Others may have different takes on it. If you have glass/FMS experience it shouldn't be a difficult course.
As for the length of the program, prepare for a paltry check every two weeks for 4 months. No complaining here as the end reward is fantastic....just something to consider for financial planning. As for learning the company while learning the airplane, if you have 121 experience it helps, but is by no means a show stopper. I imagine I'll be learning the company for some time to come, but the guys/gals I've flown with have been extremely helpful in that regard.
I sure hope there's another big nugget bid!

The hardest part of training was getting a paycheck for $877 every two weeks whether I needed it or not . . . for 4 months.

I thought every new hire at FedEx was a "Purple Nugget". The guys hired into the widebody were "Golden Nuggets" right?

And the ones bucking to get into management on the MD's are called 'Chicken McNuggets'... Oh! I'm such a card. ;) TC

I'm sure that sucked but your 130 per/hour second-year-pay should make up for it.

The good news is that training is so long that by the time you're done you're almost on second year pay. ;)
