Does anyone know who operates the B747's that are white with a purple tail, and no other markings on it? I have seen them in KHSV, and one was in ATL yesterday.

Atlas Air

If it's HSV it's Atlas Air, we go there about 5 to 6 times a week. Our former president decided to remove the Atlas Air Logo from the fleet during the gulf war, in an attempt to keep us anonymous, I'm not sure if it worked but people still heard the GIANT callsign, and saw the blue tails and got used to us flying around like that. We are gradually putting the logo back on the fleet, and getting used to hearing the compliments again - cool looking plane!

Why would they bother putting the Atlas logo on the plane when they will have to repaint them all in Polar colors anyway? ;)

Merry Christmas!

He claimed it was for the safety of the crews, because we are a U.S. airline operating into hostile areas, and wanted to keep a low profile. He was ousted and we asked our new president to repaint the fleet and that is what's happening now.

Yep, a big giant 747 pulling in with no paint jon and an N registration has a low profile.

Saw a Tower Air Beaut come into Mog(Somalia) during a mortar strike. Some balls out guys there!

They aren't really going to abandon the Atlas livery for the Polar are they? And if so...why for the love of god??!!

Hopefully not anytime soon, not looking forward to giving up our awesome livery for a big P on the tail. Just because we're going to one operating certificate, does not becessarily mean that Atlas will disappear!

Go GIANT

Exactly.

Even company rhetoric is advancing the "two brands, one company" thingamagigger....

You mean "two pilot groups, one management."

They want to keep us at each others throats for as long as they can.
