Who knows? Over the years, who makes money and who doesn't always seemed to coincide with who had the open contract!!

PSA supports their own A/C, scheduling, and flight tracking. U handles bookings, marketing, and most of the slots and gates. Who writes the check for fuel seems to depend on where it's being pumped. Aircraft payments I think are being done by U right now (At least they took the retirement for that purpose anyhow, or claimed that it went to the RJ's), Ramp personnel and line maint. is handled by what ever airline has the staff there. What U managment says things are for also depends on what pilot group is in the room at the time. They are masters at the slight of hand and fuel the sibling rivalry any chance they get.

Bottom line is that we all have the same paint job, Government loans, and CH-11 problems. GE financing for all is based on the assets of all, so that is the underlying truth. We are all in it together. Either we all survive or none survive.

As to the crew room.....I figured as much!! Probably still have the lost and found box with the ancient twinkie in the closet too!!! :) Well, maybe by now that twinkie is being used as an aircraft chock.

Only 9 have been released to us and the media. I'm sure more are in the works, but nothing official as of yet to the pilot's.

What is current upgrade time at PSA? I was told be your HR today that you are getting 14 aircraft instead of nine.

Do you remember who told you that? That is not true as of right now. Was it Melissa Coates?

328Dude - we don't have 45 200's. we only have 35 of them. A total of 40 airplanes right now. Another 9 701s are expected over the next few months. I think the first one is being picked up on Thursday from Tucson.

The Director of Ops frequently tells new hire classes that we were audited recently and found to be the most efficiently run regional in the country - not sure what that means. He also says that they are hoping we are getting up to 19 more RJ's - on top of the 9 that are coming soon. This is speculation based on the agreement for financing for 31 Regional Jets. 6 of which went to MDA and 6 of which are coming here (plus another 3 financed separately). this leaves 19 RJ's not accounted for and MDA have been told they will not get anymore airplanes from Embraer - EMB have better customers - so the guess is they might come here. We shall see.

Hiring minimums

I just saw that PSA is having a job fair in Charlotte in a couple weeks. Their website says their hiring mins are 1500TT. Can anyone in the know tell me if they stick to that? If not, what's the least you've seen new hires have? Right now, I've got 950TT with 600ME. I'd love to get a job with PSA because they are based out of Dayton and I'm in Cincinnati.

wwiiguy -

We've hired a few lately with your level of experience. Some have worked out just fine, while a few have struggled with training and eventually were let go after botching their CRJ700 differences training.

If you come here, be sure to work your a$$ off in training and during your first year. Show up prepared, manuals updated, smiling, and able to fly the airplane!

Good luck; I think it's a good bet you'll be happy with your decision to come here, all things considered. Might just position you well should the industry ever recover.

>>>>>>Their website says their hiring mins are 1500TT.<<<<<<<

I forgot to address that. It could be that they stopped hiring below 1500TT due to some of the problems of late. If you get an interview, please post so we all know what the deal is.

thx.

I remember a while back that they raised the minimums to 1500 because of an insurance requirement when the Dornier sim was downgraded from level D to level C. I'm probably getting the details messed up, but I'm pretty sure that was the reason for the 1500 requirement. Now that the Dorniers are gone, I'm not sure if 1500 is a hard and fast requirement any more.

Whats first year Pay at PSA? And is there a different pay for FO's on the 700's when they fly them?

The payscales are blended for both CRJ's. Sorry, don't have a current pay sheet to see what the starting pay is.

I spoke to Nicole in HR about a friend of mine that had 1400 hours and they said they will no longer interview anyone with less than 1500. One exception to this is if the applicant has an internal recommendation from someone on line. That is how I was able to get him an interview. The 1500 minimum has nothing to do with the Dornier when it was here.

My only complaint is FNG's walking around with bigheads, thinking they are still hot shat from Gulfstream and deserve theupgradeyesterday.

I am sure I can speak for all of us that came to PSA that we don't feel that way at all. Do you know what we are thinking?

Everyone here at PSA has been fantastic from the instructors, check airmen to the chief pilots.

Maybe you should just lighten up a bit.

I have to agree. I trained a lot of the gulfstream guys at one time or another and met a lot of the others and they were all great guys. Happy to be here. Don't make such wild generalisations.

Weasil -

I agree. I flew with a GIA guy that had a great attitude and flew fairly well, too.

Funny, though: we have hired a few young people who have got the most unbelievable pompus attitudes I've ever seen on a 1000 hour pilot!

Oh well; keeps it interesting.

Overall, boys and girls, not a bad gig here. Sorta like working at US Airways, except for the pay and the fact that scheduling is allowed to completely run (or ruin) your life.

...................... we will have a TOTAL of 14 701s. 5 plus 9 more. Saw a brand new shiny one in DAY today.

Lear: How many more are you guys getting? Also, what happened to the CEL list guy. I don't have an updated copy and was curous if you might. I heard you guys were getting some more, but not sure what the real numbers are.

328,

I would assume that the CEL list isn't being updated because there are no classes now at MDA. As soon as classes start again I'd bet someone from the MEC (PSA/PDT/AAA) will update it. I hear there are alot of mainline guys (released from Mesa) that are waiting to come. Not good for me if they come as FO's. Also I know that there are quite a few senior guys from the CEL list waiting too.

As far as jets we got 3 this month and are getting 3 in Feb/March. That brings us to 28 total. We have 325 guys on the list (110 are WO guys). 20 or so guys for training that leaves just over 300 to fly the line. This is the staffing they want according to your "pilot message board" with 28 jets.

Word on the street (you know how that goes) is the rest of the orders are to be converted to 190's (see last pilot concessions) for late summer early fall. We shall see. The other "word on the street" is classes to start early summer which goes along with getting more planes late summer/early fall but again, you now how that goes.

My guess is for the next 6 months or so we will be a 28 jet E-170 fleet. If U gets some money from some rich guy/gal/group then maybe we get more planes, maybe not, stay tuned.

Here is some WO info reguarding MDA. The most senior WO guy at MDA (former ALG) has a DOH of mid to late 80's. He is a line holding FO in PHL. The most junior guy at MDA from the WO list is again from ALG and has a DOH of early to mid 2000. He is reserve in DCA.

Since DEC and now at least 6 (possibly more) guys from the training dept and line/check pilots have been hired at JB. The line pilots/check airman were former mainline and the traing dept guys were former mainline training guys (not pilots). One of the training guys was former ALG training dept who went to MDA then over to JB.

Take Care

Im even scared to answer that, but yea????

Ok, there, let me have it. LOL This ought to be good.

Couldn't talk her into the VRod.

This is not true.

Perhaps it's not, just telling you what the Director of Operations told me. That MDA were getting 6 more 170's and that's it for now. I understand that even though EMB said they would not negotiate they are now negotiating further. Time will tell.

Yup, when I got hired on the tail end of the dork program I was offered the interview just before the sim lost is D cert. I was offered the job on the spot with the caveat that I get that extra 150hrs or so that I needed before I started GS. This came from John Welsh. Obviously that isn't the problem now but as I understand some of the FNGs are having problems (every time I fly with a former dork captain they are so relieved that I'm from the dork program.)

How true that statement is MM. However, most of the new guys/gals have been great with a few exceptions.
