Piedmont/ALG/PSA pilots had the opportunity to choose a CEL preference either USAirways ONLY, MDA Only, or both.
Some people who wanted to be "USAIRWAYS only" bypassed a CEL position offerred at MDA.
Then, years later, it was determined that MDA is actually mainline USAirways; so by stroke of a pen the (CEL) MDA pilots become usairways mainline hires, retroactively.
I understand that the CEL individuals involved didn't create this mess and that they are trying to fix a lousy situation. I just can't help but wonder what happens to the CEL pilot who chose "USAirways only" who happens to be SENIOR to the backfill "mainline" CEL/usairways pilots?
It sure seems to me that those pilots were BYPASSED in a big way, right?
And what about the furloughed guys/gals who wanted to return to USAirways and believed that MDA was not mainline (as they were sold, I mean told) ?
This business is just unreal in its ability to screw employees over.
Be aware that this issue will be arbitrated as part of the AWA/USA integration (coming this winter).
