I recently got hired by Mesa and might get hired by PSA. If that happens what should I choose, PSA or Mesa? On one side Mesa is growing remarkably, job security is there. PSA on the other hand is wholy own by US Air, and if they go under that would probably mean furlough for PSA. However, PSA is hiring into jets. And at Mesa I'm not sure if I'll get the jet, I might get the B1900. If US Air goes under, Mesa might buy PSA. I can relocate anywhere. What would you choose???

mesa..

try to get the dash - they are typing fo's in the dash from what i've heard.

Go to the first place that gives you a class date. Mesa is growing and upgrades are relatively short, and you probably won't be on reserve very long. Don't get caught up in "I want to fly a jet"-itis...upgrades seem to come very fast on the Beech and you can get that turbine PIC that is so desired until you have seniority to hold jet captain.

Once again, if I were you I'd go to whoever gave me the first class date. Just my (probably unpopular) $.02. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else here. Just take the first class date and dont look back. Everything changes so often in this buisness you dont want to base things on what ifs. You just go with what looks best on this day then run with it. Its a great position to be able to choose between airlines.. good luck

How much of Mesa's flying is for USAir?? If the big U goes under Mesa will furlough big time. Decide what is more important, PIC time or quality of life. Having worked for both companies I can say that working for PSA is much less stressfull.

If Airways goes Ch. 7, I think PSA is going to be in a MUCH larger world of hurt than Mesa...

dosen't matter...PSA will be Mesa soon.

More brilliant insight from the turtle.

Figured it wouldn't be long till you stuck your head out of your shell.

Av8tor1 are you a frickin idiot why you would you go work for MESA if given the chance to be at PSA. Hey if you want to become a MESA whore that is your choice but while you are bending over and getting it from behind with no kyjelly dont come back and say i did not warn you.

And if any of you think for one second that PSA will be MESA soon tell me where you smokeup at night so i can join in.

One Tuff Idjit...

would rather you be another shiny happy face in the USAir system. The same happy folks that are making the choice to fly WN outta PHL so easy. BTW OTG, Hasn't PSA replaced ENOUGH Mainline flying? That is the definition of a 'ho, thus I think you are qualified to comment. Judging from your avtar, I can assume you know a thing or two about KY jelly too, but that's another post.....PSA and Mesa aren't that far apart on pay either. PSA folded on recent pay rates, as I recall. Quick Captain vs. long slow death listening the old Wholly owned guys talk about what a great operation it WAS, before they started flying 70 seaters for free. If you wanna be miserable career Regonal FO go to PSA. You'll upgrade at Mesa in about 20 minutes and make more than a PSA FO. Just depends on your goal.

If U goes away and you work at PSA, you'll have a seniority number for ... nothing. Even JO will wait for the auction to get those CRJs (not like we'll have a place to use them).

If U goes away and you work for Mesa, you'll probably get furloughed, but assuming we can put a new half-ass paint job on the ERJs and a few of the CRJs, you'll still be working.

Personally, I'd tell Mesa yes, then get resumes in to Express Jet, Pinnacle, Skywest, and Horizon as fast as possible. But that's just me.

yeah, he didn't think that one thru, did he!

lol.

A new regional pilot would be out of work either way and better off starting over rather than waiting out a furlough.

Were talking commuter airlines here not mainline seniority.

The question concerned which airline to start with, not retire from.

Of course JO would just buy all the U assets and get his pilots to fly the A330 for $80 hr. Paid to JO.

Wow, there's a pissed off Alleghenien............Your words move me.

What do you expect? And how far off base is he? Not far. Im interested to see these 70 seat rates...

wow this one is a no brainer.....and I am a FA.......Never work for Mesa unless it is the last airline alive and you are the last aviator and there is no McDonalds......there you have it.....it's all about Ethics. Mesa has none

Who cares about PIC turbine.... I mean really. Where do you think that PIC turbine experience is going to get you? United!!! HA.......

Onetuffguy is mad because he's the one bent over in his avatar. I guess enough reaming will make you "tuff."

As for the actual question, Mesa is a safer bet than any of the wholly owned Airways carriers. Unless that is you get hired into the left seat of a Dash or a CRJ

In any other question, I'd say stay away from Mesa, but in this case.... Mesa wins out.
