400 New pilots next year still seems a bit high to me.
If they DON'T retire and -200's earlier than scheduled, there will only be a net gain of 19 airplanes next year. So figure about 200 new hires plus another 100+ for retirements, and you've got 300 to at best 350 new hires in 2004. That's 15 to 17 classes, so if they do 2 a month starting in January they should be hiring though July or August. Still a pretty darn good year, but not quite 400 unless they get more jets sooner. Of course, all these #'s take a nose dive if they lose all the -200's early next year.
As always, take this info for what you paid for it as I'm just a senior wannabe who can't wait until Monday!
 
What do you mean by a "FedEx style selection process"? What do you think of the chances for a military jet instructor with 2300TT and 1500 turbine PIC?
 
Once you meet the mins, you have a shot at SWA. SWA does not care about flight time above the minimums.
