NJA union is teamsters and they usually if not always have a 1 year probationary period. At my company prior to your end of teamsters probation, the company can fire you without going through the termination board, and you cannot grieve anything. The teamsters will however happily take your dues during this time.

read your contract, it's a good thing to know. Please let us know what the probationary period is at NJA, apparently you work there.
