I looked everywhere under Section 21 and could not find any that said the pilots on probation cannot file grievances.

They Company cannot violate the contract just because you're on probation.....Probationary pilots do have protection.

If the company or the union decides to terminate your employment for any reason during that one year probation, are you still reasponsible for the 2 year training contract?

The new CBA did away with all training contracts. No worry there for a new-hire.

NJA union is teamsters and they usually if not always have a 1 year probationary period. At my company prior to your end of teamsters probation, the company can fire you without going through the termination board, and you cannot grieve anything. The teamsters will however happily take your dues during this time.

The company can fire you but -- they do not just fire people that they just spent a LOT of money recruiting and training. Most of the people who have been fired while on probation could not pass their checkrides or training.

Union Dues are the best dollars I spend every month. Even on probation you enjoy much protection from the CBA. It will be yrs before union dues can catch up to the monies I have collected from Class action grievances... thereby making dues in effect -- FREE.

I am glad if your company has a strong union. Mine does not. During a furlough, I received not 1 communication from our union with what was going on, even after leaving 3 messages with our rep. Things like communication, power, and a furlough fund are what make a union good, not just a contract.

not my problem that your union sucked. Did you volunteer to help them out or just bitch that they weren't working for you?

And you think that is a good idea while you are in your probationary period? If company's did the right thing, Unions would not be needed.

Please let me know how strong Unions are these days? How strong is ALPA and the Teamsters? Give me a break! Our union thought it was ok for another IBT company to take over a contract while on strike. Brotherhood!

Helped me

I had a carpet dance while on probation and was represented by the union .

There is different criteria on checkrides while on probabtion (1 bust and they can can you).

Bottom line is the union is working for you from day one at Netjets.
