I don't think that the numbers they present are very representative of the industry. Maybe the numbers for 135 operators are fairly accurate, but as far as the straight 91 operators...the numbers are low. The NBAA salary survey is much more accurate and respresentative of the industry.

I take the Pro-Pilot survey with a "grain of salt".

weighted

I always found the numbers for both of them were heavily weighted in favor of the Northest and major cities and could be off by 25%.

Certainly the Midwest numbers I knew were much different than the numbers presented in either survey when I was an active employer of pilots. In making that comment, I would clarify that say Chicago would be considerably differrent than Terre Haute as example.

The farther you got from where there were Fortune 500 companies located, the farther you were away from those numbers.

Where is this salary info available?

Thanks

It was published in the current issue of Professional Pilot magazine. If you don't already get it, it is free to subscribe for folks in the industry ... though some say you get what you pay for. I think it's a decent read, but you should take some of their surveys with a grain of salt.

As to why their surveys aren't always right on, remember that they're only based on whatever people send in. Garbage in, garbage out. In any case, it should give you a VERY rough idea of what the market might bear.

Good luck to all ...

I've known pilot's in the past who send inflated numbers to boost the surveys. Most CP's I know won't touch a ProPilot salary survey with a ten foot pole.

You want a good, accurate survey, get a copy of NBAA's.

Ditto on that...
Department heads dont pay any attention to ProPilot surveys.
I think they will give you a very rough idea, although usually slightly on the high side...but hey we can all dream....

Pro Pilot Salary Survey

I think the Pro Pilot Salary survey is wildly inaccurate - their statisical methodology is flawed, but I think the numbers they come up with are pretty conservative - at least at the GV/BD700/BBJ end of the scale.

NBAA

If you are a member of NBAA, is there any way to get their salary survey off the web site?

I'm not sure if you can or not. I know it's out on CD now. I'm not sure if they put out the book this year or not.

Not available on the web site. If you are a member and participated in the survey you can get a free copy of it. If you did not participate you can buy a copy of it.
