Does anybody else think that the photos of flight departments onthecover of Pro Pilot Magazine always look alittle undignified? No slightto the departmentsthemselves, it just seems like a poor editorialchoices.

Felt bad for the December '04 guy that had to hold up two bra's while everyone else was holding jeans and stuff. Wonder who drew the short stick?

How 'bout if you turn them down?

I would have loved to tell them how we fly our Lear 35 from the western U.S. to London, sleep in the "berthable seats" for a few hours, and fly back. But we're really looking forward to getting that Lear 55 with the slightly bigger berthable seats online. And the pay, whoo wee! I can't believe they pay me 25G's a year to fly this thing. And the Captain; man, he's loaded, he makes $32,000 - and he's only been here 5 years! Maybe one day we'll have benefits, but that'll just be icing on the cake.

Wait a minute...that wasn't us. That was a different cover story.

Our department has turned them down twice.

I stopped reading ProPilot years ago

Every issue is just a self-promotional contest.

The best part is the little approach chart quiz thingy.

Business and Commercial Aviation (B/CA) is a much better magazine. They offer current and relevent articles of practical use.

And it's free too.

Shhhh... don't let out the secret or I may have to start paying :)

My favorite to date is this months (Yum! Foods). I think everyone is supposed to be looking at the pizza, but it looks like they're staring down the chicks shirt... good photography.

Just between you and me

On the inside page where it lists all of the editors and managers there are contact numbers. Call the subscription manager and tell them you're an airline employee and the subscription is free.

Then every year (if you fill out their survey) the renewal is free too.

Or at least that's how I got it started several years ago.

Good luck.

I used to get it free for 3 years (always filled out the form) then in 2003 nothing. Anyone have the number so I can call?

Karsten Shein's weather articles are pretty good too; he's probably forgotten more about weather than I'll ever know...

Yeah I couldnt beleive the cover this month of YUM foods....what a dunm a$$ picture..

no wonder most flight departments keep turning this joke of a mag away..

"Pro Pilot" (laugh) is almost to the point where its hardly worth toilet reading.

Hardly, but it still qualifies. It sits under my Maxim and Family Handyman mags.

Not joking, the first thing I thought when I saw the pic on the front was that they were looking down her shirt. What a great picture.

I second the approach chart quiz, that's a great feature. It'd be nice if they had a few more in each issue.

Yea, I thought the same thing. Pilots should be embarassed to display products that a company manufactures, especially since the sales of such products make the payments on the jet and pay the flight department employee's salaries.

I agree, the quiz and Karsten Shein are the only redeeming features in Pro Pilot. I find more relevant and useful information in AOPA Pilot sometimes (for instance this month's article about Afghanistan). By far the most outstanding publication is B/CA and in a close second is the NBAA Journal (for those of you that have access to it).

I've found that reading, subscribing, or just having Pro Pilot in the flight bag is a status thing for some pilots, or so they think.
