In the front of the Private Pilot Airplane Single-Engine Practical Test Standards.
Each PTS describes the type of Equipment required for that certificate or rating.
In the PP ASEL PTS it says:
"...to provide an airworthy, certificated aircraft for use during the practical test:
1. category, class, and type.
2. have fully functioning dual controls.
3. be capable of performing all the areas of operation required for the test.
A certificated airworthy airplaned classified as a "Light Sport Airplane" is still a certificated ASEL. Just make sure that it meets the 1,2,&3 requirements, such as radio nav equipment and instruments.
