(posted this over at propilot.com...no answer so I thought I'd try here, too. Thanks for any responses!)
Under 61.113, there are some exemptions about a private pilot flying paying passengers if a host of conditions are met. But I'm not certain that what I'm thinking of falls under that FAR. Any advice would be appreciated. My situation:
I'm a private pilot, about 120 hours PIC (almost to my IR, but I don't think that's relevant).
The PTA at my kids public school is putting on an auction to raise money to fund various things around the school (programs, speakers, equipment, etc.). A friend is donating a night at a local resort. I would like to donate transportation to/from that resort.
I would be paying for the airplane/fuel/etc. I would receive no money. But the PTA would receive money in return for my flying the winning bidder to/from the resort. So, in theory, this kind of falls under 61.113 (hence my 120 hours is an issue). But, then again, I'm not receiving any money for this (but the PTA is).
So...is there a way to make this happen?
Thanks in advance for any pointers and illumination of the relevant FARs.
