HI..
I'm sorry to bring up what probalby should be a "dead" thread, but I was one of those "poolies" that NWA hired, but the class date never happened.. the pool was disolved a long time ago (April) but I was just wondering if anyone "in the know" knew had any info about whether or not Delta might have any sort of consideration for us? I realize that the "Delta way" is not the NWA way (such that it is) but you'd think after the rather extensive interview process (sim, interview, tests etc.) Delta might consider it?

Again, I'm sorry to bring up a topic that is probalby long over, but I have a vested interest.

Thanks!

At least you were nicer about it than the guy in the America West pool that thought he should have a job before East furloughees.

I had a buddy that interviewed with Delta many years ago and was "hired". They stopped classes shortly after so he never actually went to work for Delta; when he called to inquire about the job offer and his status for a class they told him to feel free to apply again for another interview. I wish you luck, but they don't have a very good track record in situations like yours.

You got hired to be a NWA pilot, Not near good enough to be a DL PILOT. Comae on didn't you know that

I believe you will get you answer only when we start hiring. Until then DAL will make no decision on that. Anything else is just hearsay.

Was that due to the controller strike in 1981? I had what you described happen to a friend of mine as well during '81.

you have no rights until the 20 from compass and 9 from mesaba get their entitled monthly spots, then the rest of us can have a chance.

That is fact the first 29 spots per month not per class are taken. Add the bypass pilots and it may take a few months for off the street hiring.

I know two of the guys hired but had their classes cancelled. Both are DC-10 Captains at a charter company. Be cool if Delta gave them a shot, if they still want it.

Probably a post-9/11 class cancellation. There were lots of those industry-wide. Almost all were placed in pools (SWA, etc). But if he wasn't, then you're right, sounds like DAL is not too eager to follow thru on their commitments regarding job offers when things get shaken up a bit. Definite pattern there, decades long.

Otherwise a great place to be, except for the Ron Allen years. That guy did a lot of damage to a great corporate-family culture, but I digress.

thanks

Thanks for all the responses guys... as one post said, we won't really know until hiring starts, whenever that is. Cheers!

I recently flew with a line check guy and he said we wanted to hire this spring but the training dept has their hands full with all the movement from the last bid. Look for us to hire next spring/summer. Unless things change of course.....

When is the most Junior F/O on the current list forecasted to upgrade? That is if say they take first available upgrade slot. ( Ball park figure) In addition what is the hire date of the most Junior F/O on property now.

Curios for a company with such a huge seniority list, what the dynamics of the system are.
Thanks

Most of our initial Captain positions at Delta were negotiated away with our current PWA and given to non-seniority list pilots at Compass, Mesaba, Shuttle America, ASA and Skywest.

Ball park? My guess is eight to ten years, at a minimum, for the most junior FO at Delta to upgrade to the most junior Captain position.
