Prep Time

Recently signed on with HPA for the 737 type...and was wondering what an "average" amount of time you guys who have already gone alotted before heading to class. I just got my books and read all the briefing and am wondering if I can make a March 8 class. What'ya think? Thanks...

I KNOW it all depends on how much time daily I can dedicate, but was wondering what an avg. Joe as myself alots?

Go for it. You have about a month. I had about the same amount of time but I studied a LOT. HPA rocks, great choice. Enjoy, it was a great experience for me. Good luck...

While I had the books for nearly three months, there were people in my class that had them a matter of days and managed just fine. Basically, the longer and harder you prep before the classes start, the less time you need to cram while in ground school. My suggestion is to start right away and follow the outline for the home study, paying particular attention to the subject areas with the highest time allotment (i.e. electrical, flight controls, air conditioning and pressurization, etc). However, before class starts you should be very familiar with the Test Bank for Home Study. This is the bank from which they will pull 50 questions as a pre-test on the first day of class. you need to pass this (80% if memory serves) in order to continue without remedial training. Good luck! You will definitely enjoy the experience!

I just returned Saturday from Dallas and getting my 737 Type at HPA. What an Outstanding experience. They are all very friendly and professional people. The instructors are fantastic. I agree with the other posts that the more prepared you are, the more enjoyable the experience will be. It is a busy two weeks and they do get down to the nuts and bolts of the 737 systems. Know the test bank, limitations, and the memory items for sure. Use the study guide they sent and follow the guidence. I would learn the flows to the extent that you know where switches are at least. Did you use VA for funding your type??? I have heard VA picks up about 60% of the bill. If so, any problems?
