Polar

Well, I beg to differ. It sounds to me that YOU'R UNCLE, like many of our senior Capt's and Engineers, feels that he is RUNNING OUT OF TIME. It is understandable why he is such a pessimist. Our contract negotiations have hit a brick wall and the mood is pretty dark. But we are also adding airplanes, flying full and rummor has it that soon we'll be hiring too. Any pilot who has ever negotiated a contract will tell you that Management does a great job at circulating negative PROPAGANDA to influence the negotiations. Anyone who falls for this type of tactic is in no possition to be giving solid advise. Next time you post a negative statement about a carrier, please consider the SOURCE. If you'r uncle has been here as long as you say he has, he should be smart eighnough to see through the smoke and mirrors;)

 What!!!!!!!!!

Who is your uncle. He must be an original Polar true truck driver..
Don't listen to him, he don't know $$$hit. Put your resume in and come work for us.

It's a fun job! :D

The good news is he's leaving an opening for you. Your uncle is pretty cool after all.

Cheers.

Cool man. Haahhaahaha

Hey House_x

I believe the minimums are the basic minimums as is for anyother job.
There is no PIC requirement. You should be ok!!!

Good luuck!! :)

what is like a typical monthly sched? average days worked? medical benefits? and any other good info. starting pay, etc....

thanks

I think you guys are the ones smoking something, if you don't know about the $60.00 merger assessment that the Atlas Air pilots are going to have to pay after June 1st.

At least you guys will have someone junior to you since Atlas is hiring 100 this year.

Merger?

You stated the facts." Untill both groups agree to some kind of merger plan" This can take two years or more... Who knows what can happen in the next two years. DO YOU?? One thing is certain, no one here at Polar is going to roll over and get stapled to the bottom of SOMEONE ELSES SENIORITY LIST!!!!! If there is a merger in the FAR future, then it will be a negotiated FAIR and EQUITABLE merger...I, for one, don't care to be around to see it...... I'M GOING TO DISNEY!$#@!$#@%$^%

Polar World

To answer you'r tread 5$world, a tipical month is composed of 16 days on, usually in a row. No junior manning for line holders. If on reserve, the co. can extend you up to 3 days. For the first day of extension you get 2 hrs+ 4.3 or whatever you fly(wichever is greater), on the second day 4 hrs.+ 4.3(same rule applies), and on the third you get 6 hrs.+4.3 (same rule applies) If you stay out 19 days (16+3) you get approx 96 hrs of pay....Not too bad. All pilots are assigned to JFK. The co. pays for the hotel during reserve at JFK, however, you will get taxed on the hotel..... This is an issue that we are trying to resolve.... Starting pay is $56/hr (I beleive) with a 65 hr guar. Working conditions are not bad, however, the days do get loooong. If you have no prior international experience, I suggest that you read up on some of the stuff. Flying international is a whole different BALL GAME... Standard does not COMPUTE..The guys on the property are GREAT.. alot of talent.. we have some PAnAm, Braniff, Eastern, Tower, and Kalitta guys that have been "around the block" a few times...If you'r interested, stay tuned. Rummor is we need to hire 30 pilots to fill in attrition requirements..... GOOD LUCK

Wow, B-atch,

You get wound up pretty easily.

No one is suggesting that there will be anything but a fair merger, even if it means you are senior to me. No reasonable person at Atlas wants to screw anyone over because most of us have been around the airline industry for a long time. Most of us have been screwed before, and don't want anyone else to go through it.

If a merger does happen (if it happens), I'm certain it will be well thought out.

By the way, I think it is very professional of you to answer the questions posed.
