Ok, not the beer from Venezuela, but the airline!

Q1: Flight Crew Bases.

Is STN just for Atlas crews? If not, is it true they airline you out there? Does the CO pay for your lodging while over there on RSV?

Q2: Schoolhouse.

Where? Paid during? How much? Hotel too?

Q3: Hours of Service.

What's the real skinny on your flying? Decent crew rest on arrival? Life on reserve? Call-out times at a base or outstation? How are lines built-X on/ X off?

Q4: Crews.

Hardcore beer-chugging Nonscked types happy to be here working to make it better, or just time builders desperate to leave?

Q5: Future.

Atlas/Polar seniority integration (furloughs?) issues? New aircraft added to fleet? Who flys them? What about new DHL flying? Upgrades?

Looking forward to hearing from some current whale drivers...

Thanks guys,

Don't do it!

I have to agree. With the recent Federal injunction request by the holding company AAWWH against the Polar membership regularly withdrawing from merger talks. I can see another reduction in Polar's fleet size coming when the company makes another point with them. Wouldn't doubt seeing them getting downsized to 1 400 and 1 200 if this keeps up.

I think most of this is over the "follow the flying" the Polar MEC wants. That is really trying to get another piece of the seniority pie from the merger seniority (Atlas/Polar) list arbitration award they didn't get (the bump and flush) when Polar decided they were going to merge at one time. Kind of a shame since they really made out on that arbitration with Atlas pilots as having really lost out in the finalized list.

Seems I've heard that song sung somewhere before...

Thanks guys,

Q1. PO bases you at either LAX or ORD. LAX is the jr. base. There is no STN base with PO; only at Atlas.

Q2. MIA for indoc. Then you will do systems and sims in MIA or DEN at UAL if MIA does not have the sim time. (Chances are you will be in DEN) You are paid from day one (training pay)+per diem, hotel provided as well. After 60 days you get off training pay and go to regular pay even if you have not completed training for some reason. Medical/Dental (Cigna), 401K w/ 6% matching.

Q3. Normally 16 days on per month w/ rest of the month off. If you are on reserve you will be expected to pull that at your base. However, PO will pay for your hotel while on reserve in your base.

Q4. Crews... Some of the best guys and gals you will ever meet. All of them are great people.

Q5. Cloudy. Enjoy if while it lasts and get a nice 747-400 Type rating out of the deal.

Last I heard when you applied to Polar, they would not tell you which- Polar or Atlas company or base you would get until after class. I was under the impression that ALL new hires were going to STN.
How is that working?
Thanks.
