Hi I met a Polar senior pilot Bill Thurston who use to be a captain but turned 60 and now still flying but as a F/E. He gave me his email but I think I got it wrong and now I can't send him my resume. I know he also do sim interviews. If anyone could help me or give a number at POLAR that could drive me back to him...
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance

GOD Bless you

They are not hiring as I know but I wanna have my resume there if someone can walk in this is the only way to get a job in US after 9/11

if you know somebody you get a job otherwise your resume goes to the trash can

Rumor is they ARE hiring. Don't know the specifics, but our airline is loosing 2 guys this month to them.

Did he promise you anything else?? LOL (jk)

Yes Bill is an engineer with us and YES we are hiring with classes starting late July. I'll try to get in touch with him and tell him to check this site for your message.

Cheers
Pat

Is there only one class planned right now in late July, or are there going to be some later on in the summer/fall?

Also, do you know what aircraft new hires are going to?

Is JFK the only base? I thought I read something or maybe just rumor that there was going to be a base in England somewhere. Any truth to this? That commute would suck.

Only one base at Polar, JFK.
Next Class starts July 19th and should be followed by a couple more. As far as we know all new hires on the Classic but don't quote me on that.

Pat

Bill T is not an engineer. Polar is not hiring FEs at this time and hence no retired pilots are being recalled as FEs. I don't think he is doing interview checks either. The fleet managers have been doing the interview rides. Also although the company may open a foreign domicile it is pretty unlikely since they will have to negotiate new rates of pay work rules etc for that base. Stanstead is a base for the mainline Atlas Air pilots. Polar is not a bad place to work but it's not great either. You had better come with a good dose of patience to deal with the ineptitude from the front office. All of the usual non sched crap.

I think you're a little confused, Bill Thurston is not a retired capt but IS an engineer :) You are correct though he does not conduct interviews.

Pat

Pat, You're correct. I saw Thurston but I read Turnbull. When he said he used to be a Captain that threw me off. Thurston was never even an FO let alone a Captain.

Mix up

Luis

I just found this sight and I think you have me mixed up. I did talk to you about Polar but I am not nor have ever been a Captain at Polar. I joined 4 years ago as an FE and becuase of my age (opver 60 cannot upgrade anyway). So go back and think about it.
You may have heard about a lot of negative talk about what is happening over here, but make no bones about it, it has a lot of great people trying to hold back the flood waters. I would recommend Polar to anyone. So if, in future you decide to becme a Polaroid we would be glad to have you.

Bill Thurston

I have heard nothing about it on the line. Are you in the class? You might want to talk to HR if you are. Polar is alive and kicking and still a fun place to work.

It is nice to see Bill is still telling good stories. He is a PFE and never flew in the pilot seat ever at Polar.

Anyone know if Ernie the X CFE is still there? Had some great talks with him at the Grand Burger in the past.

Will people be hired into the 200 or the 400 most likely? Also, what is the most exotic scheduled destination for Polar? I know they hit Australia and New Zealand I believe, but what about Africa?

Is the 400 flying much different than the 200 flying?

Ernie is probably the best FE on the planet. I worked under him in Saudi Arabia and here at Polar (although he wasn't the cheif FE then). He is Mr. 747 in my book and I would FE for him anytime.
