PlaneView Question

I was wondering if there is a place on line that goes into detail about how the PlaneView avionics system works and what it can do. I was lucky enough to get in the cockpit of a G550 today, and it blew my mind. The pilot showed me a few things, but didn't get into much detail.

Honeywell developed the Primus EPIC systems that is the foundation for Gulfstream's "PlaneView," Dassault's "EASy," and the EPIC system on the Citation Sovereign. Their website, http://www.honeywell.com has loads of information.

May I suggest you PM GVFlyer with your request. I just picked up a CD-ROM titled "The Planeview Cockpit" produced by Gulfstream, that someone left in our crew room in operations. He should know where you can get a copy

I really like the layout. It can make you lazy if you have to go back to a G-IV or the G-V Classic. No more jumping back and forth to the display controller for brakes and flight control system pages. If there is anything that takes getting use to is the charts being displayed. The white border and "paper" of the charts even with dimming is still bright for night flying although I hear there is a fix coming. Another "neat" feature is the ability to do just about everything on the I-Nav, load approaches, intercepts, etc. Just about anything you can do by entering key strokes in the MCDU you can do with the CCD on the I-NAV.

I've found it's almost too much info. Your department or the people you are flying with have to be very specific about what page they want displayed and during what phase of flight.

The aspect I like the most is that you can search the database and look for all kinds of cool airports all over the world. The charts are nice but I still like paper. Paper doesn't go blank on approach.

I'm going to get my GIV rating in a few months so I'll have to dumb down, I guess. TC
