I saw one of their 727s in ELP. It looked very cool!

Where are they based?

Equipment?

Understand they're pax charter.

Planet also does a lot of charters for celebrities, college teams, and professional teams. I saw one of their 727's on the ramp here in Phoenix a few months ago.

Crews have to sleep on the airplane during layovers, they fired some pilots for refusing to work over sixteen hours. The feds are all over them like flys.

Flown them...

During the summer several travel agencies in south florida had contracts with them to fly to dominican republic on weekends 2 to 3 times a day. I got to fly on them during a 7 day vacation to Domincan republic. I spoke to the crews and they said that most of their flying is on weekend charters. Don't know if this was a summer thing only. Also, they seemed happy with the job. They said, like elsewhere it was not perfect or United wages, but it was ok.

I personally know the Chief Pilot, Jim Phinney and several crew members there. You don't want to be on Jim's $hit list or you'll be out faster than you can say. I tried to go there while I was furloughed but I was told by the C.P. I didn't want to be there... They are planning on moving the whole operation to Orlando by early next year. Crews will have to be domiciled within 2 hours driving time the base. The airplanes are nice, ex AA... but most of them are usually sitting idle and the crews are on standby. Not sure what the minimum guarantee is or if they have one and I don't think there's much of a future there but if you've got some 727 time and you're willing to put up with the B.S. of a charter operation, it could be fun.
