Could someone tell me the difference between:
Pitts model: S2-S; S-25; and S1-11B. I know they all are built on the 2 place airframe, but single place, with the IO-540 engine.

The S2-S is a derivative of the S2-B, meaning it is a production(factory built) airplane. Basically the S2-S is just a single seat S2-B(260 HP, factory built airplane replaced by the introduction of the Aviat Pitts S2-C). Never heard of an S-25. If you mean the S1-SS... Thats the Steen Aero Lab homebuilt, which is a single seater, 180-200 hp, with airfoils and other goodies borrowed from the S-1-11B design. Lastly, the S-1-11B is a production airplane with a big motor, 1 seat, and all the latest acro goodies built in. I think plans are available to also build the S-1-11B as a homebuilt.

I included the Christen Ealge since it is really part of the Pitts Line, and was to be Certified but Frank Christensen ended up buying out Pitts in 1982 and going with an already certified Pitts S-2A and upgrading it to an S-2B. Basically Frank improved the PItts S-2A to make the Eagle.

You can check out Aviat for more info.

Thanks for the info. Last week I did set in a Pitts S-25. It looked like an S-1-11b. The I.D. plate said Pitts S-25. It had 4 ailerons that were full length with spades on top and bottom. Engine was AEIO 540 w/330hp. It had lots of room for a Pitts. The seat back had more of an angle. It may be the only one and Pitts S-25 is new to me.
