If we don't win the flying back as a result of the RFP that still hasn't being awarded, we won't be here next year

All right what's the deal w/ Pinnacle, why is everyone leaving?? Are they just scared of getting furloughed in the near future, getting treated like s##t by management..junior manning etc. Days off?? help me out here

I think you pretty much answered your own question. Attrition is high on CA side as we have more than a few that has a class date that are just waiting to leave, and the FOs just doesn't want to stick here to be punished by mgmt's daily idiocy. But hey, if you find a pilot that is happy with their mgmt out there, let me know!

but hey, if you live in MSP, DTW or MEM, welcome aboard... It ain't too bad if you're lo time, and nobody would touch you. It'll probably take you a good half of the year to realize what you got yourself into:) By then, you're PINNACLIZED!! You'll be one of us!

What kind of a paycheck do the first year guys make with all the credits? How many hours do you average per month? How long on reserve? Finally, how long til upgrade?

Just curious...

Why do you think the RFP hasn't been decided??? Could it have something to do with XJ's situation???? Ya think???? When they finally resolve that mess, you'll either be sittin' pretty over at 9E, or in to your necks in it!!!
Have fun flying the red tails! - You never know what big red has in store for you!!

Like you said, it could literally go either way. I think that the RPF for the Red Haired step children hasn't being addressed due to the fact that they are still dealing with their own problems with labor that its not over yet until the F/A's situation comes to a resolution, then it is our turn. I'm sure that it is not going to be a happy experience because dealing with Big Red never is. Attrition on both the captain side and F/O's side is high, but to be honest, it is not only because the working condition (Although it is a factor) But also the fact that our guys are being hired by bunches in JB, SWA, CAL, FedEx (We have quite a group that it is currently in the pool) And the F/O's are going to the Fractionals. So it is NOT only because it is bad to work here, but there are openings in the industry and people are taking them, I'm sure that if you work at any regional including what its consider one of the best contracts out there like Express Jet for example, and you are offered a position at SWA or FDX. Although your contract is good and you are generally happy there, you will leave too.
As to MSA and 9E. they have always being played against each other by the masterminds. MSA is going through rough waters right now (And I'm sure we can expect rough waters ourselves) but the fact that the industry as a whole is turning for the better can't hurt.
Big Red turned a profit even without the cuts being implemented yet. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but there is quite a bit of tunneling to do still.

We shall see.

The attrition varies from month to month, the high was almost 60 in a month the low was about 15... averaging 1 a day leaving. It is still about 35/65 split on CA/FO attrition. The CA's are leaving for those that are actively hiring, most of the CA's that are leaving are in the 5-7 year range and been in the left seat for at least 3-4 years. Not too many of the top heavy CA's are leaving. The junior CA's that are leaving either have an "IN", or found a gig that lets them be home more than 8 days a month. A few have thrown in towel all together.

FO's... as mentioned most are fractionals with corporate right behind it and still some have left all together. Our FO's can barely survive until 3rd year pay, 1st year maybe 20K on the W-2, 2nd year 24-26K. Note that many of the program FO's we have are 2nd and 3rd career folks with families who took the quick route and now realize that it will take years to make a decent living. Others are real young and realize that poverty, reserve and 10 days off is not what they signed up for.

Corporate has finally taken notice that the revolving door is going to negatively impact thier bonus.

Upgrade is coming down again and should still go junior for a few more months. I would guess 12-18 months seniority before it bounces back up. We are upgrading in the mid 700's (out of 1100 pilots), and mid 700's have 18-20 months with the company. These CA upgrades have about 120-150 FO's senior to them that either don't have the time yet or have not chosen to upgrade yet.

Those upgrading in the near future will more than likely be career reserve Captains.

This is a company that you make what you want of it. Come to work, do your job and go home and it is not that bad. Live in domicile and you may even tolerate it. Eventually you move up in seniority and get 15+ days off and you tend to forget how bad it actually is.

if you live in domicle is it possible to get more than 10 days off?

Not while you are on reserve, it will take about a 12 to 18 months to start holding 12-15 days off (Although with little credit) and depending on the base that you bid, It will take about 2-4 months to hold a line. It will be a crappie line with 10 days off, but it will be crap of your choosing. Its better than to be property of crew scheduling.
The trick is that if you don't want to fly your days off, Don't pick up the phone!

It is the pay that is so tough to swallow. Guys think they can handle it then after 1-2 years they quit trying because something better comes along either in aviation or out.

10 days off but because of the contract probably 7-8 days a month for a while. If you commute that is home 5-8 nights a month. I know a lot of guys who quit because they were just gone so much.

If you have no family it might not be to bad.
