I was thinking about going to Pinnacle but I heard that the company makes the crews pay for the snacks except water. Anyone want to comfirm that. If true, what a bunch of tight asses over there. I'm surprised ALPA couldn't do anything about that.

We don't have free snacks for the pax any more. If you want Pringles or the trail mix, you pay $2. That's very normal. Sodas, juices and water are free.
Nothing different than other carriers.

Normal for Skybus maybe. Delta and it's DCI carriers are free snacks.

We haven't had snacks for years. Now along with NWA offerings, we offer Pringles and trail mix for a charge. The flight attendants are held accountable for the money. If they are short, they pay.

There is nothing in the contract about snacks or crew meals, so ALPA doesn't have a say unfortunately.

And you wouldn't come to PCL because of the snacks?
Nice flame bait.

So after the merger, will everyone have to pay for snacks? Man will I be pissed.

Someone should let the FAs know that that's illegal. The company can't charge them or dock them pay for this.

9E is using an innovative policy. A pilot that dosen't have time to take food breaks, has no need to take poop breaks. Its really a two birds with one stone kind of policy.

Eventually those snacks will go TIMEX, and when that happens you can't give them to the passengers. To give them old snacks wouldn't be right, so the crew should eat them. My plane would be full of "old" snacks all the time, what a shame.

i bet they got that idea from colgan

I was just about to say. Must be an empty threat on the company's part. Airline biz is full of this kind of sh*t.

At ASA, if an FA is "short" on her liquor money, she is disciplined for stealing, and is required to repay the company for the money she "stole". That's how they get around it. Really. You can't make this stuff up

Maybe that is why at least one FA bought mini's at a buck a pop and then sold out of her own stash on the airplane for $5. Who says some FA's are not smart.

More than one did it. Right up until someone got caught. Apparently someone sold a liquor not normally found on the plane and a customer wrote a letter saying how glad they were to find it. Oops. Smart?

Nice avatar, wmu. Don Cherry is kewl.

He is great...best part of Hockey Night in Canada. I about spilled beer all over the coffee table when he had that suit on(the one in the avatar), I just had to take a picture. What made it better was Ron McLean had on your standard black interview suit sitting next to him.

Again, illegal. If the FAs were smart enough to fight it, they'd win. The company can certainly terminate an FA for theft, but they'd have to prove that the FA actually stole something. Less liquor on the airplane than the money accounts for is not proof of theft by the FA, because she's not the one that stocked the plane in the first place. That could easily be the caterers that stole the liquor. It'd never hold up if an FA tried to fight it.

It's just a matter of time before all the regionals have some sort of policy like this.

In the end, though, how much time, effort, and money will expended trying to track the 'illegal' theft of Biscoffs?

The FA's hook me up with a $5 snack box for free every time I commute on NWA to/from work. The FA's don't get reprimanded. I don't think they even keep count. The liquor is a different story.

As for Pinnacle ~ well... starving the crews is the least of their problems.

?!?

You're picking a regional based on snacks?!?????

Why not look at bases, QOL, pay, upgrade times, etc.......
