Upgrade minimums are 3500 Total time as well as multiengine minimums, reduceable one hour for each hour in the CRJ, meaning that if you got hired at 2500 Total time, flew 6 months at a little over 80 hours a month, you could upgrade at 3000 hours instead of 3500, assuming your seniority could hold it...

So if someone were to have around 5000 TT and 1500 Multi, and 1000 turbine, it would be about how long to upgrade?

How about 3000 TT and 1000 Multi, no turbine?

The mins are 3500 TT, 2000 ME, and 1000 turbine. I believe that all three are reducible up to 500 hours on a one for one basis with time served in type at Pinnacle. We have more than enough people on property with the quals and desire to be captain so I hope there isn't anyone getting their hopes up about street captains again. Besides, the company got burnt so bad the last time they took captains off the street I believe they will junior man into the left seat before they explore that option again. Northwest did just secure financing for 75 CRJ options though and if (m)any of those come our way at an aggressive delivery schedule anything could happen.

The recent sudden drop in longevity required to upgrade was a function of the hiring freeze in the six months after 9/11. All of the pre 9/11 pilots have been given an opportunity to upgrade, now post 9/11 pilots are up to bat because they are next on the seniority list, albeit with significantly less longevity. This, combined with some peoples reluctance to submit a system bid until the last minute, paints a more optimistic picture than what is reality. Even if the next bid went as low as mid-500's that would still leave 280+ senority list pilots waiting for their turn.

I don't like the whole street CA thing anyway unless they REALLY can't get anyone from within.
Look at what can happen from that (CQFO at another airline).

You also have to note the amount of FO's with time and seniority.

There are a good 50 or so FO's (from all 3 bases) that are just waiting to they can hold a much better line and/or avoid reserve.

The next few month's will be intersting.. I think you will see a vacancy or two go back senior as those guys make the move.

Regardless.. it is interesting alternates went well into the mid 500's... Sadly most of those guys have only been holding a line for a less than a year now, and they will be heading back to reserve, although it will be in the left seat....
